Enjoy comedy at SoulJoel’s, Winterfest at the zoo, more
Andrew Dice Clay finishes up a three-night run under the heated dome at SoulJoel’s Comedy Club, Royersford, with a show today at 7p.m. Then standup comedian Tim Dillon comes by for four shows this weekend, at 6 and 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and Anthony Rodia closes out the weekend with a show at 6 p.m. Sunday. Dillon won the title of New York’s Funniest 2016at Caroline’s NY Comedy Festival and a year later was named one of the top 10 comics you need to know by Rolling Stone magazine. He had two specials premiere in 2018 on Comedy Central and Netflix, and has performed at the Oddball Comedy Festival, the Glasgow Comedy Festival and SXSW. Norristown, presents its inaugural Winterfest weekend, featuring winterthemed entertainment and activities, including a big ice slide created by the Ice Concepts. Guests can enjoy special ice carvings throughout the zoo’s path, a fire pit with s’mores and live entertainment featuring keeper chats with the animal ambassadors. Guests 21and older can enjoy drink specials at Zoo Brew. Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. is exclusively for members. The Philadelphia Orchestra Digital Stage
presents pianist Michelle Cann in her Philadelphia Orchestra debut, performing Florence Price’s Piano Concerto in One Movement tonight at 8. This performance marks the first time the piece has been played in North America in its original orchestration since the composer’s death in 1953, and possibly since the mid-1930s. Also in the program are Rossini’s Overture to La scala di seta (The Silken Ladder) and Schubert’s engaging and early Symphony No. 4, written under the influence of Haydn and Mozart. This program runs approximately 1 hour and will be performed without an intermission. Tickets cost $17, and the concert will be available for ticket holders to watch on demand for one week. Funk Cancer,
a free benefit concert stream, will be presented live from the Ardmore Music Hall on Saturday starting at 5 p.m. Scheduled to perform are Honeychile, Martonimous, Trap Rabbit, Bronson Tennis, Eat Your Beats, Likebirds, Interminable, Circadian Rhythms and Darlingtyn. AM Radio, a tribute band whose repertoire includes hundreds of hits from the 1960s and early ’70s, plays three shows at the Sellersville Theater this weekend, on Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 5 and 8 p.m. The band emulates the sounds, voices, appearances, slogans, images and styles of the era in authentic detail with outfits ranging from mod dress to multi-colored flower power, psychedelic tie-dye shirts, go-go boots, long hair and an energy that takes you back in time.
