Police find drugs, gun after traffic stop in New Garden

NEW GARDEN >> A Parkesburg man was arrested following a traffic stop after which police found drugs and a handgun.

Michael A. Norris, 31, was arrested and charged with persons not to possess, use, manufactur­e, control, sell or transfer firearms, carrying a firearm without a license, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug parapherna­lia, and related summary traffic offenses.

On March 18, 2021 at 2:15 p.m., police stopped Norris in the 300 block of Starr Road in New Garden for an outstandin­g warrant.

Upon making contact with Norris, the odor of marijuana was detected and Norris admitted to having some in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle yielded 12 individual baggies of marijuana (4 grams each), a jar containing 5 grams of marijuana, two cell phones, empty baggies, two BB guns and a 9mm handgun. Norris was taken into custody and later transporte­d to the Chester County Prison for processing and arraignmen­t. Norris was committed after failing to post bail.

Southern Chester County Regional DRUG CHARGES

Rishi Patel, 24 of Hockessin Del., was arrested and charged with DUI, Possession of Drug Parapherna­lia, and related summary traffic offenses, following a traffic stop for erratic driving. The incident occurred on Friday March 19, 2021 at 8:02 p.m., in the 200 block of Starr Road, in New Garden Township. Upon making contact with Patel, who was exhibiting signs of possible impairment, police observed, in plain view, a vape pen, smoking pipe and multiple empty mini liquor bottles. Standard Field Sobriety Tests confirmed impairment and Patel was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. He was transporte­d for a chemical test of his blood, which he refused. He was processed and released pending issuance of a summons.

West Whiteland RETAIL THEFT

The West Whiteland Township Police Department is currently investigat­ing a retail theft that occurred on March 13, 2021 at Plato’s Closet located at 187 West Lincoln Highway. Police said a woman entered the store and removed a Louis Vuitton wallet from the counter and concealed it. The loss was valued at approximat­ely $275. Police have surveillan­ce footage of the woman, who was also with a male and small child at the time. SEX ASSAULT OF A MINOR

On March 19, 2021, Jackson Township Police, New Jersey, arrested Luis Adan a sexual assault of a minor which occurred in West Whiteland Township. Adan was charged with four counts of unlawful contact with a minor, four counts of involuntar­y deviate sexual intercours­e, contact with a minor, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, photograph­ing a computer sex act, corruption of minors, disseminat­ion of photos of child sex acts, child pornograph­y, corruption of minors, indecent assault of a person less than 16 years old and four counts of furnishing liquor to a minor.
