Yingling scores 4 to lead Avon Grove to ICSHL girls final

Morgan Yingling scored four goals and Maddie Boulware and Skylar Campanile scored two goals each as the Avon Grove girls ice hockey team beat West Chester East, 9-2, in the semifinals of the ICSHL Girls American Division playoffs on Tuesday night.

Top-seeded Avon Grove will now face No. 2 West Chester Henderson in Wednesday’s championsh­ip game at PNY Westtown.

The Warriors scored one run in the first and never trailed in this Ches-Mont battle. Kevin Wheeler had two hits for Henderson, and pitchers Eddie Smink and Jackson Snyder combined for 17 strikeouts. Sean Regenye and Nicholas Dielh each had two hits for the Longhorns. CONESTOGA 3, HAVERFORD 2 » In Central League action, the Pioneers scored three early runs and then held on to nip the Fords. Drew Lamonica had two hits to pace ’Stoga. Pitchers Shane McCullen, Alex Yucha and Jack Nudy had a combined three-hitter and fanned six. OXFORD 9, DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 2 » Ryan Dewees pitched five solid shutout innings for the Hornets, and Joey Morton delivered two hits (including a triple) and drove in two runs to pace Oxford. AJ Lehman and Ryan Grissom each had an RBI for the Cougars. AVON GROVE 4, BISHOP SHANAHAN 0 » Freshman starter Brayden Gregg went six innings, fanned five and walked none to lead the Devils to a shutout victory over the Eagles. Jacob Stretch knocked in two runs and Nick Noga went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two steals to help the Avon Grove cause.

7, Trailing early, the Whippets rallied to score six runs in the fourth and fifth innings to defeat the Vanguards. Cole Blence notched three hits and teammate Josh Morse drove in three for West. Connor Blence went five innings to record the win.

The Cougars rallied for four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to erase a deficit and ultimately edge the Hornets in Ches-Mont action. Ainsley Robinson, Brooke Protesto and Sydni Townsend each notched three hits, and Protesto drove in three for East. Ashley Flynn had three RBIs for Oxford. WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 8, UNIONVILLE 7 » Jordan Melnick blasted a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning and it was enough to help the Warriors inch past the Longhorns. Melnick drove in a total of three runs and Sdye Zolomij chipped in two hits for Henderson. Unionville was led by Lucy Brucker, who had two hits including a three-run homer. DOWNINGTOW­N WEST 10, SUN VALLEY 1 » Meghan Sinkus drove in four runs to spur the Whippets past the Vanguards. Sinkus finished with three hits, and so did her teammates Anne Eliason and Taylor Posner. Starting pitcher Audrey Wright scattered three hits in five inning on the mound and got the victory.

WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 7, BISHOP SHANAHAN 0» The Warriors blanked the Eagles in Ches-Mont action. Aansh Depura and Harry Panson prevailed 7-6, 6-4 at fourth doubles to help Henderson improve to 4-2 overall. At No. 1 singles, Aidan Asmus topped Ryan Riotto, 6-2, 6-2.

CONESTOGA 10, ACADEMY OF THE NEW CHURCH 6 » The Pioneers led from start-tofinish in this non-league contest. Aidan Kelly led the way with three goals and two assists. Joey Allen chipped in with three goals and Patrick Reilly added two goals for ’Stoga.

Girls Lacrosse VILLA MARIA 19, ST. BASIL 4 »

The Hurricanes raced out to a 15-3 halftime lead and never looked back. Maggie Cardin led the way with seven goals and four assists. Allie Meyer added four goals and Maggie Traynor chipped in with two goals and an assist. Villa Maria improves to 2-1 overall. DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 19, PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 4 » Caroline Brennan poured in five goals and added three assists to power the Cougars to a non-conference victory.
