Gomez carries WC East to softball victory

Jess Gomez had four RBI at the plate and pitched a complete game, striking out seven, as the West Chester East softball team rolled to a 10-3 Ches-Mont League win on Monday afternoon.

Gomez had a home run, a triple and two singles, while Amanda Gomez also homered for East. Ava Laughlin had a home run for Shanahan in the loss.

Alex Kuehn had two RBI for Coatesville in the loss. WEST CHESTER EAST 4, BISHOP SHANAHAN 1 » Keagan Azar had two RBI and Gavin Lilli got the win on the mound in the ChesMont victory for the Vikings.

WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 7, OXFORD 0» Ethan Chheda, Aansh Devpura and Stephen Wright prevailed at first, second and third singles, respectively. Vivek Inumella and Quinten Snodgrass secured the win at third doubles.

RADNOR 5, UNIONVILLE 2 » The Raiders swept the singles courts, with the Longhorns winning at first and second doubles. The duos of Colin Keenan and Ryan Megill, along with Will Poprik and Nate Butler, picked up points for Unionville.

College Baseball

IMMACULATA SWEEPS WESLEY » The Mighty Macs opened Atlantic East play with a doubleheader sweep, rolling to a 12-3 victory over the Wolverines in the opener before taking the nightcap, 9-3.

In the top of the first, Wesley jumped out to an early lead scoring a pair of runs on four hits to take a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the first.

In the home half of the first, Josh Crowding delivered a two-out triple to center field, which sparked the Immaculata offense as Richard Fontanillas doubled him home to cut the deficit to 2-1.
