Rustin boys get first ever win over Henderson

Marek Seaman had seven goals and Owen Murray added four more as West Chester Rustin rolled to a 19-9 victory, its first ever win over West Chester Henderson, in Ches-Mont League boys lacrosse action on Tuesday. Antonio Santangelo had three goals, while Justin Petty and Tucker Flynn had two goals each for Rustin. Alex Romano had four goals and Seamus Murphy had two more for Henderson in the loss. DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 9, COATESVILL­E 3 » Alystair Hemberger had four goals while Luke Wetzel and Andrew McCook had two goals each in the Cougars’ Ches-Mont win. Luke Fiorillo added the other East goal. Logan Fleming, Owen Ellis and Alex Ly scored the Coatesvill­e goals. Red Raider goalie Dax Shallis had 11 saves.

WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 10, WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 6 » Christine Ditizio had three goals and Alexys McClain and Ava Kane had two goals each for Rustin in the Ches-Mont win. Katie Ricketts, Anna Dinacci and Grace DePrisco each scored two goals for Henderson. BISHOP SHANAHAN 6, GREAT VALLEY 3 » Darby Whalen, Michelle Warren, Lila Ceribelli, Liv Murphy, Sophia Lymberis and Caitlyn Hubiak all scored a goal in the Eagles’ ChesMont win. Noelle Albanese and Sidney La were two of the scorers for Great Valley. KENNETT 23, OXFORD 6 » Ava Soucek had three goals and Alexis Reinard had two goals in a losing effort for the Hornets. CONESTOGA 16, UPPER DARBY 6 » A game tied 5-5 ended up being blown wide open as the Pioneers picked up the Central League win. Casey Kovarick led Conestoga with four RBI, going 2-for-4 at the plate. Kovarick drove in runs on a single in the first, a fielder’s choice in the fourth, and a triple in the fifth. Sydney Tartaglio was on the rubber for Conestoga, going five innings, allowing six runs on seven hits, striking out five and walking one. DOWNINGTOW­N WEST 19, WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 1 » Taylor Posner, Meghan Sinkus and Morgan DeFreitas had three RBI each and Darby Weller and Emma Ahlborn knocked in two runs each in the Whippets’ runaway win. Audrey Wright and Ava Zettlemoye­r combined for the win, with Zettlemoye­r going two innings without a hit allowed.

Jayce Tharnish, Jon Quici, JT Zellefrow and Shane McCullen all had one RBI for the Pioneers. MUHLENBERG 9, OXFORD 2 » Tim Haftl and Connor Reilly knocked in the Hornets runs in the nonleague loss, with Reilly hitting a homer.

Boys Tennis

WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 5, WEST CHESTER EAST 2 » Andrew Urzillo and Ethan Chheda prevailed in straight sets victories at second and third singles, respective­ly, while Aidan Scheer and Kyle Yost won in a tough three-set match at fourth doubles for the warriors. For East, Kyle Finding won in a tough three-set match at first singles, while the doubles duo of Jon Kurtz and Chase Latyak prevailed in straight sets for the Vikings.

NOXONTOWN INVITATION­AL » Over spring break, the Unionville crew team had its first regatta of the year, making a strong showing with three first place finishes: the boys varsity 4, the girls JV 4, and the novice girls 8. Unionville got second place finishes from the novice boys 8, girls lightweigh­t 8, and the girls varsity 4.

College Baseball

IMMACULATA 7, WESLEY 6 » On the heels of a pair of convincing wins over Wesley one day earlier to begin Atlantic East play, Immaculata took to the road on Tuesday afternoon for the final game of the three-game set with the Wolverines. Immaculata raced out to a seven-run lead in the early stages of the contest and hung on at the end to record the sweep of Wesley and open Atlantic East play a perfect 3-0.

Men’s Golf

DR. EDWIN B. COTTRELL INVITATION­AL » West Chester University was able to shave a few strokes off its round one total, which was good enough to slide up one spot in the team standings and finish eighth overall at the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitation­al at Penn Oaks Golf Course. The Golden Rams shot a 322 on Tuesday and finished the 36hole event with a score of 647.

Brock Fassnacht took five strokes off his day one total and moved up 15 spots in the standings to finish 27th overall with a 161. He shot a 78 on Tuesday. He was the low score for the Golden Rams on their home course. Jacob Sokalsky and Pete Matuszak tied for 29th with a 162 each. Matuszak was competing as an individual, and his score did not count towards the team total.

Austin Schreffler shot a 79 on Tuesday and finished with a 163 to tie for 33rd. Sean Rabbitt carded a 164 total for the tournament.

Women’s Golf DR. EDWIN B. COTTRELL INVITATION­AL »

Josephine Genuardi placed second overall to lead West Chester University to a runner-up performanc­e as well on day two of the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitation­al at Penn Oaks.

West Chester shot a 716 for the 36hole tournament, falling behind only California (Pa.), which won the team title with a 705. Millersvil­le was third with a 721. The Marauders’ Hannah Yanoski won the individual crown with a 161 for the two rounds. Genuardi was behind her with a 169.

Alexandra Lowder shaved seven strokes off her round one score to finish with a 177 and finish sixth overall. Madilyn Siuta dropped five strokes off her game from Monday to tie Lowder with a 177. Katelyn Samples was 10 strokes better on Tuesday and tied for 20th overall.

Women’s Tennis WEST CHESTER 7, SHIPPENSBU­RG 0 »

West Chester University proved to be too much for the Raiders, earning a clean sweep on a beautiful afternoon on South Campus. West Chester Henderson grad Elaina Rochford was one of the six singles winners for WCU, with all the wins coming in straight sets. The other singles winners were Tori Alexander, Davica Massaro, Leandra Roelker, Elaina Lee, and Alyssa Skulsky. On the doubles courts, the duos of Alexander and Lee, Massaro and Skulsky, and Shannon Dixon and Julia Mowrey won easily.
