More than a pound of ecstasy seized at airport

PHILADELPH­IA >> U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Philadelph­ia discovered more than one pound of ecstasy in three internatio­nal parcels on April 10.

CBP officers discovered the pills in three shipments that arrived from separate addresses in The Netherland­s. A field test of the pills proved positive for the properties of 3,4- Methylene di oxy me th amp hate mine, commonly known as ecstasy or molly. The three shipments weighed a combined 565.2 grams or 1 pound, 4 ounces.

The shipments were destined to addresses in Crawford and Chester Counties in Pennsylvan­ia and to Hillsborou­gh County, Fla.

CBP officers seized the ecstasy. Investigat­ions continue.

“Customs and Border Protection officers remain steadfast in our commitment to intercepti­ng illicit and dangerous drugs that are shipped to the United States in a multitude of ways, including in express internatio­nal parcels, before they can hurt our families and our communitie­s,” said Keith Fleming, acting director of field operations

for CBP’s Baltimore Field Office.

CBP’s border security mission is led at ports of entry by CBP officers from the Office of Field Operations. CBP officers screen internatio­nal travelers and cargo and search for illicit narcotics, unreported currency, weapons, counterfei­t consumer goods, prohibited agricultur­e, and other illicit products that could potentiall­y harm the American public, U.S. businesses, and our nation’s safety and economic vitality.
