County extends vaccine to 12- to 15-year-olds

-

Following the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practice recommendation of the Pfizer vaccine for those ages 12-15, the Chester County Health Department officials will offer the Pfizer vaccine at its walk-in or drive-thru clinic locations, with or without an appointment, starting Thursday morning.

From Thursday, May 13, the Pfizer vaccine will be available without the need for an appointment to everyone age 12 and over at the following Chester County Health Department vaccine sites:

• Exton Square Mall (former Sears store), 222 Exton Square Mall, Exton, - Tuesday-Friday noon – 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

• Longwood Gardens overflow parking area (drive-thru), 1010 E. Baltimore Pike, Chadds Ford, – Tuesday-Friday 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m – 5 p.m.

If individuals prefer to make an appointment for the vaccine at either of these locations, they can do so at https://chesterpaprod.service-now.com/vam.

“The COVID-19 vaccine continues to prove itself as the greatest weapon that we have in fighting this virus, so we welcome the news that the FDA has expanded the emergency use authorization of the Pfizer vaccine to include those age 12 to 15,” said Jeanne Franklin, director of the Chester County Health Department.

In addition to County Health Department vaccine locations,

health officials expect Pfizer to be available for 12- to 15-year-olds at local pharmacies and pediatrician offices throughout Chester County.

“Chester County has approximately 20,000 12- to 15-year-olds. We cannot stress enough the great impact that the vaccine is having in slowing the spread of COVID-19, and strongly encourage parents and guardians to have those 12 and over vaccinated quickly,” added Jeanne Franklin.

Parents or guardians are expected to provide consent for 12- to 15-yearolds who are receiving the Pfizer vaccine through the Chester County Health Department, and must plan to be present during the vaccination.

In addition to the Pfizer vaccine, from Thursday, May 13, both the Exton Square Mall and Longwood Gardens overflow parking area vaccine sites will be administering the Johnson & Johnson and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines, both available for anyone age 18 and over.
