Michael Duncan of Chester County Hospital will be honored at fall awards event.

EAST GOSHEN >> The Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry has named Michael Duncan, CEO of Chester County Hospital as the chamber’s 2021 Executive of the Year.

In making the announcement Guy Ciarrocchi, CEO of the chamber said Duncan was chosen for the award because of his career and leadership during the pandemic.

“Due to his many accomplishments at the hospital, including overseeing its world-class expansion and innovations, Mike would be an obvious choice in any year,” Ciarrocchi said in a statement. “However, given his leadership — and that of his entire team over the past year, there is no leader and no institution in our region more deserving.”

Duncan said the challenges experienced by everyone over the past year “could never have been anticipated,” but working in the healthcare industry has been especially challenging.

“Despite the uncertainty COVID delivered, our hospital family stood tall in the face of fear; collaborated in ways one could never imagine and delivered safe, compassionate care to our community when needed most,” he said. “The strength and endurance displayed by every hospital employee is my motivation. I am honored to accept this award on their behalf.”

Thom Chiomento chairman of the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry said the chamber honors leaders who excel in their field of expertise and positively impact the region.

“Mike Duncan exemplifies all of this. We are blessed to have him and his team in our county,” he said.

Duncan will receive his award at the Chamber’s Annual Awards Event to be held this fall at Longwood Gardens.

Since 2000, the Chester

County Chamber of Business and Industry has honored founders, executives, and innovators in every industry, including Bill Covaleski and Ron Barchett of Victory Brewing, Ashley McEvoy of Johnson & Johnson, Nick DeBenedictis of Aqua, and Vanguard CEOs Jack Brennan and Bill McNabb.
