Kutztown University offers new certificates, celebrates new accreditation
Kutztown University offers more than 130 programs of study that give students a range of unique academic opportunities, all within the tight-knit community of a small university.
In addition to its already highly regarded undergraduate offerings, KU now offers two additional undergraduate certificates: technical writing and cybersecurity.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts the demand for technical writers to grow by 8% from 2018-2028, almost double the rate for the average of all occupations.
KU’s new undergraduate certificate in technical writing addresses this demand in a nine-credit format.
Writers who can clearly communicate complex processes to diverse audiences in a variety of accessible forms are highly sought after, especially in the health, science, engineering, computer science and finance fields.
Certificate program
Additionally, a new short-term certificate program prepares students to prevent and defend threats to cyberspace and information technology.
Kutztown University’s new sub-baccalaureate certificate, including courses in criminal justice and computer science, begins this fall to address the growing need and demand for cybersecurity.
The 18-credit program is unique in its ability to apply concepts of information security, the gathering and preserving of cyber-evidence, along
with analyzing cybercrimes through the criminological lens of analyzing human behavior and social systems.
Music business concentration
KU also recently celebrated the accreditation of its music business concentration by the National Association of Schools of Music.
The concentration, which resides within the undergraduate music degree program, is designed for students interested in working behind the scenes in the music or entertainment industry.
Admittance into the music business track does not require an audition, and prepares students for a diverse and exciting job market, working with all angles of production and performance surrounding music.
