Union rally to tie Toronto on Santos’ goal

TORONTO (AP) » Substitute Sergio Santos scored on a header in the 77th minute to give the Philadelph­ia Union a 2-2 tie with Toronto FC on Wednesday night.

Santos took Kai Wagner’s cross and beat goalkeeper Quentin Westberg for his sixth goal of the season.

Alejandro Bedoya opened the scoring for the Union (13-8-11) in the opening minute.

Jozy Altidore tied it in the 66th, and Toronto (6-179) took the lead in the 70th on Jack Elliott’s own goal.

Revolution 1, Rapids 0

FOXBOROUGH, MASS. (AP) » Tajon Buchanan scored his eighth goal of the season and the New England Revolution beat the Colorado Rapids 1-0 on Wednesday night to break the MLS record for points in a season with 73.

New England (22-4-7), the Supporters’ Shield winner, broke the mark of 72 for a 34-match season set by Los Angeles FC in 2019 . The Revolution have one game left in the regular season, at home game against Inter Miami remaining Nov. 7.

New England coach Bruce Arena tied Sigi Schmid’s MLS record with his 240th regular-season victory.

Buchanan settled a cross from Adam Buksa with his chest, took two touches to get away from a defender, and slotted a shot past William Yarbrough from a difficult angle in the 74th minute.

Sporting Kansas City 2, Galaxy 0

KANSAS CITY, KAN. (AP) » Johnny Russell scored twice to extend his goals streak to eight games and Sporting Kansas City beat Los Angeles to move into first place in the Western Conference.

Kansas City (17-7-7) has 58 points, tied with Seattle atop the conference, and has won six of its last eight games.

The 31-year-old Russell, who has a career-high 14 goals this season, ran onto a cross by Gadi Kinda, burst past a defender and beat goalkeeper Jonathan Bond to open the scoring in the 40th minute and scored again in the 82nd — his 10th goal in the last eight games — to give Sporting a 2-0 lead.

Nashville 6, Cincinnati 3

CINCINNATI (AP) » C.J. Sapong and Randall Leal each scored two goals and Nashville beat Cincinnati night to clinch a playoff spot.

Nashville (12-4-16) scored four straight goals in the second half to hand Cincinnati (4-20-8) its 10th straight loss.

Aké Arnaud Loba and Walker Zimmerman also scored for Nashville.

Brandon Vázquez and Brenner scored for Cincinnati, and Nashville had an own goal.

Crew 3, Orlando 1

COLUMBUS, OHIO (AP) » Lucas Zelarayán had a goal and two assists and Columbus beat Orlando City 3-1 to keep the defending champion Crew’s slim playoff hopes alive.

Columbus (11-13-8) has 41 points, three behind seventh-place D.C. United for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Orlando City (12-9-11), which had its five-game unbeaten streak snapped, fell to fifth in the conference with 47 points.

Miguel Berry and Derrick Etienne also scored for the Crew. Robin Jansson scored for Orlando City.

D.C. United 1, Red Bulls 0

WASHINGTON (AP) » Kevin Paredes scored in the ninth minute and D.C. United held off New York.

D.C. United (13-14-5) snapped a four-match winless streak. New York (12-127) had its eight-game undefeated streak come to an end.
