Sheetz drops 2 grades of gas to less than $4 per gallon

Sheetz is offering two grades of gasoline to consumers for under $4 per gallon through the July 4 holiday period.

However, the discounted prices are not available at all locations. They are available at 349 of the convenience chain’s 650 stores across its geographic footprint.

Sheetz announced Monday afternoon it had temporarily reduced the price of Unleaded 88 and E85 gasoline at some locations in an effort to help lower “pain at the pump” for consumers, the company said.

Unleaded 88 is selling for $3.99 per gallon, and the price of E85 is selling for $3.49 per gallon at select

locations.

Of the seven Berks County Sheetz locations, three are selling the two grades of gas at the temporary lower prices.

The lower prices are available at these Berksarea Sheetz locations:

• 4100 Perkiomen Ave. in

Exeter Township

• 2246 Lancaster Pike in Cumru Township

•5515 Pottsville Pike in Ontelaunee Township

Unleaded 88 is approved by the EPA for use in vehicles for model years 2001 or newer as well as light-duty trucks, SUVs and Flex Fuel

Vehicles.

The E85 gasoline, according to Sheetz, contains more ethanol (51%-83%) and is not compatible with all vehicles. It is designed specifically for “flexible fuel vehicles” or FFVs.

Sheetz suggests drivers check their owner’s manual to see if their vehicle can run on the fuel types.

According to GasBuddy, the price of Unleaded 87 averaged $4.93 per gallon in the Reading-area on Tuesday. Over the past week, the average price of gasoline in the Reading-area has fallen more than 7 cents per gallon in the last week.

Sheetz operates 650 store locations in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio and North Carolina. The temporary reduced prices are available at 349 stores. Sheetz does not have locations in Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties.
