Man arrested after illegally videotapin­g court proceeding­s

PARKESBURG » Police have charged John Wayne Smith II with unlawful use of video after court officials reported he was illegally recording a video in the Parkesburg District Court courtroom, in violation of directives given him by court officials and warnings.

A preliminar­y hearing has been scheduled for Sept. 7 at District Court 151-03,

Smith was processed and released.

Retail theft On Aug. 8, WesttownEa­st Goshen Regional police investigat­ed a delayed report of a retail theft at the Giant Food Store in Thornbury Township on Aug. 7. As a result of an investigat­ion, Danielle Malin, of Folcroft, was identified as the offender. Malin is known to frequent the Folcroft and Upper Darby areas of Delaware County. West Chester

Burglary On Aug. 6, the West Chester Police Department received a report of a burglary in the 500 block of South High Street. A resident reported that sometime between July 30 and July 31, a person entered the residence and took over $2,000 in cash. Anyone with informatio­n is asked to contact Officer Hill at 610-6962700.

State police

Theft A 47-year-old woman from Gordonvill­e was arrested after police said she under-rung items totaling $88.60 while working as a cashier at the Walmart in West Sadsbury on Aug. 6 at 3:12 p.m. A non-traffic citation for retail theft was issued, and police said it was her first retail theft offense.
