Kennett golf stays unbeaten by downing Jaguars

The Kennett golf team remained unbeaten at 7-0 thanks to a 194-211 nonleague triumph over Garnet Valley at Hartefeld National Golf Club on Wednesday. It was the Blue Demons’ lowest team score of the season. Four of Kennett’s top five scored under 40, with seniors Griffin Gaughan (37) and Grant Urie (38) leading the way. Kasim Narinesing­h-Smith and Drew Zieg each shot a 39. UNIONVILLE 205, OXFORD 228 >> The host Longhorns improved to 5-1 in the ChesMont American with a 23-stroke win over the Hornets at Kennett Square Golf & Country Club. Michael Keller and Cole Donnelly each carded 39s to pace Unionville. Scott Franjesh led Oxford with a 41.

DOWNINGTOW­N WEST 188, AVON GROVE 223 >> The Whippets cruised past the Red Devils at Inniscrone Golf Club. Mia Pace notched medalist honors with a 5-over-par 40. Teammate Silvana Gonzalez chipped in with a 43. Emma Rabino carded a 50 for Avon Grove.

KENNETT 4, SPRING-FORD 2 >> The Blue Demons fell behind 1-0 at the half but got goals in the third quarter from Sarah Fritz and Whitney Walker and never trailed again in non-league action. Mary Carroll and Jordyn MacMillan added goals for Kennett in the final period.

West Chester Rustin 1, Wilson 0 >> A goal by Amelia Foore – off an assists from Sarah Johnston – was the lone goal in a nonconfere­nce clash. The Rustin defense, and goalkeeper Morgan O’Donnell, notched the shutout.

BISHOP SHANAHAN 7, OXFORD 0 >> The Eagles won all seven matches, six in straight sets, against the Hornets. At No. 3 singles, Jane Valedakis edged Julia Kahn 2-6, 6-4, 11-9. Ella Matulewiz and Renee Kinard also won in singles action.
