New addition at senior complex targets health, wellness

- By MediaNews Group

The Watermark at Bellingham recently unveiled a new health and wellness suite and additional health-related amenities for seniors. Bellingham’s groundbreaking new addition will revolutionize healthcare in their community.

Bellingham has always understood the important intersections of health and wellness and this new suite embodies that philosophy. From a well-equipped gym to a hair salon, the space offers amenities to residents that address physical and mental wellness alike all within the comfort of their own community. These offerings and more surround a tranquil garden built for relaxation and building connections with other residents.

The addition also gives continuous healthcare for Bellingham residents and associates on-site. Physicians, memory care professionals, nurses, and physical therapists will be available and can visit with residents of the community, even in their own apartments starting in the next few weeks. Residents in memory care and rehabilitation even have direct access to the suite from their buildings, making it easier than ever to get treatment.

“We’re extremely proud to be able to offer this state-of-the-art service to our residents here,” said Teresa Long, executive director of Bellingham. “This level of care for residents and associates alike is cutting edge for communities in Pennsylvania. These new spaces are going to become the heart of the community and I can’t wait to see them in action.”

Anyone who has struggled to set up appointments with doctors booked out months in advance or tried to update a prescription knows how hard it can be to maintain good wellness habits. Now, Bellingham residents do not have to jump through those hoops, and instead get to focus on thriving with healthy habits, hobbies, and families.

Wellness services are offered by Curana Health, a new personalized care program designed with senior care in mind and covered by Medicare. The Wellness Suite in Bellingham will be one of the first in the state to adopt this format, which also makes it possible for associates to access doctors and basic medical care like regular check-ups, vaccine clinics, and more. All of these recent changes will be overseen by the new campus Medical Director, Dr. John Huyette, MD..
