Man draws prison for sexually assaulting girl
James Michael ‘Mikey’ Anthony IV is sentenced to 4 to 10 years in state prison
NORRISTOWN >> A Delaware County man is headed to prison for sexually assaulting an underage Montgomery County girl on numerous occasions.
James Michael “Mikey” Anthony IV, 28, of the 100 block of Meadowbrook Lane, Brookhaven, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to 4 to 10 years in a state correctional institution after he pleaded guilty to felony charges of statutory sexual assault and aggravated indecent assault in connection with incidents that occurred in Lower Providence between June and October 2015.
Judge Virgil B. Walker, who accepted a plea agreement in the case, also ordered Anthony to complete 5 years’ probation following parole, meaning Anthony will be under court supervision for 15 years. Anthony will be placed under sex offender supervision during the parole and probationary periods.
Additionally, Anthony faces a lifetime requirement to report his address to state police in order to comply with Pennsylvania’s Sexual Offender Registration and Notification Act.
Court documents indicate that Anthony was 20 years old and the girl was 13 years old at the time of the incidents. Anthony knew the girl’s family and the sexual assaults occurred at a private residence in Lower Providence.
An investigation of Anthony began in October 2020, when a 19-year-old woman contacted Lower Providence police to report “a pattern of sexual assaults that she experienced between June 2015 and October 2015” by Anthony.
“The victim said the defendant knew that she was 13 years old when the sexual contact occurred and that she never lied to him about her age. She said he told her not to tell anyone about their sexual encounters because he could get into trouble if anyone ever found out,” Lower Providence Detective Scott A. Dreibelbis wrote in the arrest affidavit. “She said that he would tell her that he loved her and that she believed he was her boyfriend because of the sexual encounters and the attention that he gave her.”
The victim told detectives Anthony’s contact with her began with inappropriate touching incidents that escalated to various sexual contact that made her feel “uncomfortable,” according to court documents.
Anthony also asked the victim to send him nude photos via the social media app Snapchat and he sent her photos of his penis, according to the criminal complaint.
Court documents indicate detectives were aware of a phone conversation that the victim had with Anthony in October 2020, during which she confronted Anthony about the incidents.
During the conversation, Anthony repeatedly apologized to the victim for what he did to her, telling her at one point, “I know what I did was wrong…I don’t wanna (sic) go to jail,” according to the arrest affidavit.
Other charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault of a child, dissemination of sexual materials to a minor, and corruption of a minor were dismissed against Anthony as part of the plea agreement.
