Lincoln’s offense explodes in doublehead­er sweep

The Lincoln University softball team scored its most runs in a single game since April 18, 2019 in game one at Allen (S.C.) University, winning 18-2 in six innings before sweeping the Friday doublehead­er with a 17-1 final in the nightcap that was called due to lightning in the bottom of the fifth.

Amaya Townsend hit a two-run home run, and for the day, went 4-for-8 (.500) with a pair of triples, four runs scored, and three RBIs. Kevin Jones plated seven runs over 11 innings, and Irlynn Richardson was the hits leader for the Orange and Blue, hitting .714 (5-of7), legging out three triples, scoring eight times, walking thrice, swiping a trio of bases, and touching 12 total bases.

College Baseball ITHACA 16, IMMACULATA 8 >>

The Mighty Macs opened their 2023 season Friday with a 16-8 loss to No. 19 ranked Ithaca College. The Macs were led at the plate by senior backstop Josh Crowding, who was 2-for-3 on the day with two runs batted in to go along with two hit by pitches.

Men’s Volleyball EASTERN 3, IMMACULATA 0 >>

The Mighty Macs posted scores of 23-25, 23-25 and 26-28 against Eastern Friday. Garrett Pepper led Immaculata with 10 kills and one block. Steven Dao had six kills and one block, and John Bohrer had four kills, three service aces, five digs and a block. Joe Martell distribute­d 25 assists and added seven digs, while Matthew Pfister also had seven digs.

High School Girls Basketball UPPER MORELAND 53, WEST CHESTER EAST 41 >>

No. 5 seed Upper Moreland defeated the No. 9 seed Vikings in the PIAA District 1 5A playback round Friday. Three players scored in double figures for West Chester East, tallying all but four of the Vikings points -- Annie Kerns (13 points), Annalise Kubasko (12) and Mikayla Kushner (12).
