Rev. Dr. Stephen L. Clark, 69, Pastor of the Greenwood Community Church Presbyteri­an, died Friday, March 8, 2024 surrounded by his devoted family at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, MA. He was the beloved husband of the late Ann Elizabeth (Davis) Clark.

Dr. Clark was born in Gary, Indiana, a son of Ann (Durand) Clark of West Chester, PA and the late Alan Clark. He, his wife, and family moved to Warwick, RI in 1996.

He was a graduate of Henderson High School (1972), West Chester State College (1976), Westminste­r Theologica­l Seminary (1984) and earned his Doctorate from Gordon Conwell Theologica­l Seminary in 2007.

Dr. Clark was chosen Pastor of The Greenwood Community Church Presbyteri­an in 1996.

Alongside his mother, he leaves his cherished children, The Rev. Stephen L. Clark (Kimberly Brodie) of Bonita Springs, FL., Lydia May (Jae Abraham) of Milbury, MA and Hannah Rae Clark of Fairborn, OH, his loving siblings, Alan E. Clark (Karen) of Newark, DE, Glenn W. Clark (Dawne) of West Chester, PA, Mark Clark (Mary Grace) of Plymouth Meeting, PA, Carol Liedike (Chuck) of West Chester, PA, and Linda Vilbert (Jim) of Downingtow­n, PA, and his many nieces and nephews.

Besides his children, Dr. Clark was most proud of over 38 years in ordained ministry, including as Associate Pastor at the American Protestant Church in Bonn, Germany; Associate Pastor at New Providence Presbyteri­an Church in New Jersey; and Pastor at First Presbyteri­an Church in Berwick, PA, as well as missionary work in Germany and Poland. He loved playing his guitar for the kids at Vacation Bible School (and frequently broke his strings). He also took pride in completing five marathons, including the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC., and climbing 21 of the 46 highest mountains in his beloved Adirondack Mountains. He was particular­ly proud of his days as a defensive lineman on the West Chester State Football Team and was forever a devoted Philadelph­ia Eagles fan.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Sunday, March 17, 2024 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm at DellaVecch­ia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc. 410 North Church Street West Chester, PA 19380. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Dr. Clark’s memory to: Young Life Mission Services, P.O. Box 520 Colorado Springs, CO 80901-0520.
