Kennett girls lacrosse rolls to win over Henderson

The Kennett High School girl’ lacrosse team earned an 18-7 win against West Chester Henderson Tuesday. The Blue Demons were led by Mary Carroll (three goals, eight assists, two caused turnovers, eight draw controls), Maura Keith (three goals, three draw controls), Noelle Foster (two goals), Jaylee Killgore (three goals), Marissa Herring (three goals), Quinn Simmons (two goals, eight draw controls) and Molly Kauffman (two goals).

A dozen different Pioneers scored in this victory Tuesday, and four players (Bianca Antonacci, Ellie Wisch, Chloe Brown and Kiki LIebezeit) tallied two goals each. Brown caused four opposition turnovers and collected four ground balls, and Lu Misener won seven draw controls for Conestoga (5-2).

Jayne Michaels led the Cougar attack Tuesday with five goals, and Lexie Conte, Riley Marks, Sofia Fanelli, Cameron Yard, Ally Flynn, Karyn Michaels and Ally Kennedy scored two goals each. Fanelli dished out five assists.

Boys Lacrosse

The Golden Knights were led in this Monday victory by Nate Pechin (four goals, one assist), Nicky Santangelo (three goals), Jack O’Hora (one goal, two assists), LJ Beswick (two goals), Drew Gaffney (won 11 of 19 faceoffs) and Will Brockett (eight saves).

Baseball

Jack Clearfield and Joey Newell each had two hits for the Patriots in this win Tuesday, and Ty Callahan scored three runs. Thomas Matuszewsk­i went 3-for-3 with three RBIs for the Hornets.

In this Monday matchup, the Moose (2-1 overall, 1-1 Friends Schools League) were led by Cooper Speacht (four runs, two walks, two RBIs), Breydan Hossack (2-for-3, three runs), Luke Holgate (2-for-4, two runs, three RBIs) and Jackson Young (2-for-4, three runs, three RBIs).

Softball

For the Golden Knights, pitcher Ashley Falcone earned the win and struck out six batters. Other Rustin standouts were Olivia Shuttler (2-for-3, two doubles, six RBIs), Olivia Garner (2-for-2) and Morgan Palotas (2-for-4).

In this Monday contest, Jill Wimmer and Hailey Burke hit back-toback home runs and Wimmer, Burke, Liv Wilkins, Danielle Sweigart and Taylor Sherry each had two hits for Coatesvill­e. Daryn McComsey picked up the win in the circle. Caitlin Moore hit a three-run home run for Shanahan.

Boys Tennis

In this Monday matchup, the Golden Knights swept the doubles matches, and prevailed at first singles (Jack Benedetto) and third singles (Tylor Troutman) as well. Patrick Sinnott won second singles for Henderson.

College Baseball

Sean Szestowick­i and Drew Simpson each homered, and Joe Kaleck and John Dunion each hit three-run doubles as the host Golden Rams earned a decisive win Tuesday. West Chester (24-5) avenged its non-league loss to Adelphi (11-15) from a year ago at Serpico while extending its winning streak to 14 straight games. Szestowick­i finished the day 3-for-5 with four runs scored and a pair of RBIs. Anthony Boccio (a Coatesvill­e High School alum) was 3-for-6 with a pair of runs scored and RBI. All nine batters in the starting lineup recorded a hit in the game.

The Mighty Macs concluded their series sweep over visiting Centenary Tuesday. Sal Serici had the best game of his freshman campaign, going 4-for-5 at the plate, while Steven Theisen was 3-for-5 with three runs scored. The offense drew four walks and four hit by pitches while picking up 16 hits versus the Cyclones pitching staff. Steven DiBattista picked up his Atlantic East Conference-leading sixth win of the season with 1.1 innings in relief.

Softball

The Mighty Macs lost a doublehead­er to Neumann University Tuesday, dropping the first game 4-2 and the second contest 10-2 in five innings. In the opener, Jess Oldham had an RBI double. Emma Pinto tied her career high for hits in a game with a two hits in each contest, going 2-for-3 in game one, and 2-for-3 in game two.

The Atlantic East Conference announced Monday that Immaculata senior shortstop Jess Oldham was named to the Atlantic East Conference Softball Weekly Honor Roll. This was the second time Oldham has been named to the weekly honor roll this season. Oldham went a combined 3-for-8 with a home run and two RBIs in Immaculata’s Senior Day doublehead­er with Centenary.

Women’s Lacrosse

The Atlantic East Conference announced Monday that Immaculata senior Kaitlyn Klitchko was named to the Atlantic East Conference Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll. Klitchko had a combined 10 goals, two assists, 12 points, seven ground balls, four caused turnovers, and four draw controls over two games, against Marymount and Centenary.

Women’s Track & Field

The Atlantic East Conference announced Monday that Immaculata’s Maggie Friend and Jayla Gross were named to the Atlantic East Conference women’s track and field Weekly Honor Roll. Friend competing in the Ursinus College Track & Field Festival finished third in the Javelin with a throw of 30.46 meters or 99 feet, 11 inches. Gross, competing in the Ursinus College Track & Field Festival, finished seventh in the 200-meter dash with an Immaculata outdoor program record time of 27.13 seconds. She was also on the 4 x 100-meter relay team that finished third at 4:31.28.
