Coatesville softball squad romps to victory
Gracelyn Landis tossed a shutout and crushed a three-run home run as Coasteville coasted to a 21-0 Ches-Mont League softball victory over Great Valley on Tuesday.
Kiersten Rhodes hit a grand slam for the Red Raiders.
Also contributing at the plate were Danielle Sweigert (2-for-2, two runs, doubles, triple), Jill Wimmer (2for-3, two runs, double) and Hailey Burke (2-for-2, double).
WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 18, BISHOP SHANAHAN 5 >>
Kelly Fricker went 3-for-4 with two home runs, six RBIs and four runs scored. Her first home run was her 150th career hit for the Golden Knights. Other standouts included Olivia Garner (3-for-5, four RBIs), Jenna Kraft (2-for-3) and Olivia Shuffler (home run). Caitlyn Moore had an RBI double for Shanahan.

Madison Parisi achieved her 300th career strikeout for the Longhorns in the
Ches-Mont American win, Addison Smith cracked a home run and Madeline Tomasco had two RBIs for Unionville (6-1).

WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 14, OXFORD 1 >> Jackson Lewis had a hat trck for the Warriors, and Brady Scott, Ryan Prete and Max Abrahams each scored two goals.

>> In this Monday contest, the Hornets were led by Thomas Matuszewski (2for-3, two runs scored, four RBIs, home run, doubles). Landen Rozich pitched five shutout innings and struck out nine.
College Softball GOLDEN RAMS WIN DOUBLEHEADER >>
West Chester University (26-15, 14-8) continued its second trip through PSAC East play on Tuesday with a doubleheader sweep at Millersville (20-19, 11-11). West Chester used a pair of late-game offensive outbursts, winning game one by a 9-6 final before capturing the nightcap by a 9-7 final. In the first game, Mairead Hopkins, a West Chester Rustin High School alum, hit a two-run home run. In the second game, Grace Aguilar hit a home run for the Golden Rams. IMMACULATA FALLS IN TWINBILL >> The Mighty Macs lost a doubleheader to host Alvernia University Tuesday, falling in the first game 12-1 and dropping the second game 10-0. In the first game, Bryele Anthony and Emma Pinto each had two hits for Immaculata.

Nick Turnage led the way for the Mighty Macs’ attack, going 3-for-4 at the plate, while Louis Sharp and Hunter Weitzel each were 2-for-3 and Josh Crowding and Steven Theisen both were 2-for-4. Matt Long pitched five innings, surrendering four hits and allowing one earned run, then Jake Confrey, winning pitcher Alexander Singer and Derek Andrada
combined for three innings of shutout relief.
Women’s Lacrosse LIBERATOSCIOLI NAMED DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF WEEK >>
Immaculata University’s Tessa Liberatoscioli, a Great Valley High School alum, was named the Atlantic East Conference Defensive Player of the Week Monday. Liberatoscioli had five caused turnovers, collected five ground balls and won seven draw controls to go along with her five goals in the Mighty Macs’ win against Gwynedd Mercy April 13.
Track & Field MIGHTY MACS’ FRIEND NAMED TO HONOR ROLL AGAIN >>
Immaculata’s Maggie Friend was named to the Atlantic East Women’s Track & Field Honor Roll for the second consecutive week, it was announced Monday. She finished sixth in the javelin with a throw of 89 feet, 11 inches at the Bill Butler Invitational hosted by West Chester University.
