Staub, Dunn, Martin chosen league MVPs

The Mission, Foothill, Golden, Pacific, Angelus, Marmonte and Canyon leagues have released their all-league and award selections for the 2022 football season.

Mission League

Sierra Canyon sophomore running back Dane Dunn was named co-MVP with Serra's Rodrick Pleasant of the Mission League. The hard-running tailback helped the Trailblaze­rs win the league title in the program's first season in the league.

Dunn has accumulate­d 1,815 yards and 23 touchdowns this season.

Sierra Canyon's Xavier White and Chaminade's Marquis Gallegos were named co-defensive player of the year. Sierra Canyon's Eugene Brooks and Serra's Jagger Tavai were named co-lineman of the year. Bishop Amat's Delano Franklin was named offensive player of the year.

Foothill League

West Ranch quarterbac­k

Ryan Staub was named player of the year in the Foothill League after leading the Wildcats to their first league title.

West Ranch's Maverick

Diaz was named offensive player of the year, teammate Brady Van Bennekum

was named co-defensive player of the year with Golden Valley's Malachi Beacham. Saugus' Deohn Turner was named lineman of the year.

Staub finished the season with more than 3,000 yards passing and 37 touchdowns with just five intercepti­ons.

Marmonte League

In the Marmonte League, St. Bonaventur­e running back Delon Thompson won player of the year for a second straight season. Oaks Christian's Luke Baklenko was chosen offensive lineman of the year, and teammate Justice Williams was co-wide receiver of the year. Calabasas' Aaron Butler was named defensive back of the year. Simi Valley's Caleb Alvary was named offensive back of the year.

Thousand Oaks senior Chase Martin ran away with the Canyon League MVP award after leading the Lancers to a 10-0 regular season and league title while playing running back and linebacker.

Thousand Oak's Will Halub was named defensive back of the year, and Dane Wilson was named offensive lineman of the year.

Newbury Park freshman quarterbac­k Brady Smigiel was named offensive back of the year, and teammates Shane Rosenthal was named co-receiver of the year as a sophomore.

Golden League

Highland linebacker Adonte Medley was named Golden League MVP for anchoring the Bulldogs to a 7-0 record in league play. Teammates Aydehn Kingsberry was named defensive player of the year, running back Brandon Johnson was named back of the year, and Moredecai Hines was named lineman of the year.

Angelus League

St. Francis quarterbac­k Jack Jacobs was named Angelus League MVP after throwing more than 30 touchdown passes this season. Teammate Racin Delgatty was named co-lineman of the Year.

Pacific League

Indiana Wijay, a former Chaminade quarterbac­k who is now a senior at Pasadena High, was named Pacific League MVP.
