JMU advances to Sun Belt semis
Terrence Edwards scored 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as James Madison beat Troy 75-72 in a Sun Belt Conference quarterfinal Saturday in Pensacola, Florida.
Noah Freidel made two foul shots with five seconds left to give the Dukes their 75-72 lead. After a timeout, JMU’s Mezie Offurum fouled Troy’s Kieffer Punter to force him to the free-throw line so he couldn’t get off 3-pointer to end it.
Takal Molson scored 15 points and added eight rebounds and Alonzo Sule had 10 points for the fourth-seeded Dukes (22-10), who will play No. 8 South Alabama on Sunday night in a semifinal.
South Alabama 78, Southern Mississippi 61:
Owen White had 23 points in the Jaguars’ quarterfinal upset of Southern Miss.
White had six rebounds for the Jaguars (18-15), and former VMI player Greg Parham finished with 17 for South Alabama.
Denijay Harris led the Golden Eagles (25-7) with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
BIG SOUTH
Campbell 72, Radford 71:
Anthony Dell’Orso scored 23 points and buried a jumper with one second left to rally the Camels (16-17) to the Big South final in Charlotte, North Carolina. They will play top-seeded UNC Asheville for the title Sunday with an automatic berth in the NCAA
Tournament on the line.
DaQuan Smith led the thirdseeded Highlanders (19-14) with 22 points.

VCU 74, George Washington 68:
Brandon Johns Jr. scored 17 as the Rams (24-7, 15-3), who already had wrapped up the Atlantic 10 regular-season championship, fended off a furious comeback by the Colonials (16-15, 10-8) in Washington.
George Mason 62, Richmond 60:
Davonte “Ticket” Gaines scored the winning layup with four seconds left and racked up 23 points for the Patriots (19-2, 11-7 Atlantic 10) in a regular-season-ending game at Robins Center. Isaiah Bigelow missed a 3-point attempt as time expired for the Spiders (14-17, 7-11). The Patriots extended their winning streak to six games.
Tyler Burton finished with 17 points for UR.

Campbell 81, Longwood 68:
Jay Pal had 23 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks as the Camels (13-17) upset the defending champion Lancers (20-11) in a Big South quarterfinal in Charlotte, North Carolina. Landstown High graduate Michael Christmas had 15 points for Longwood.
Josiah Jeffers had 21 points for the thirdseeded Highlanders (18-13).
Radford 78, Winthrop 69: SOUTHERN CONFERENCE
Chattanooga 92, VMI 72:
The Mocs’ Jake Stephens scored 21 points against his former team as Chattanooga (16-16) won a Southern Conference first-round game. Tony Felder had 19 points for the Keydets (7-25), who trailed 22-4 after 7 minutes.
NCAA DIVISION III
Randolph-Macon 73, Wilson 36:
Josh Talbert of Virginia Beach scored a team-high 15 points as the top-ranked Yellow Jackets opened their NCAA title defense by breezing to a victory at Crenshaw Gym in Ashland. They led 44-8 at halftime over their opponents from Pennsylvania.
Talbert also had four assists, three steals and three rebounds.
Mary Washington 69, St. Lawrence 42:
The Eagles (20-8) rolled to a first-round victory over St. Lawrence (19-8) in New Jersey. Peterson and Greg Rowson scored 14 points apiece and Williamsburg’s Da’Shawn Cook had 11 for UMW.

Tulane 81, East Carolina 78:
Jaylen Forbes scored 25 points and was 5 for 10 from beyond the arc for the Green Wave (18-10, 11-6 American Athletic Conference) in New Orleans. Jalen Cook scored 19 points and added eight assists, and Kevin Cross had 15 points and eight rebounds for Tulane.
RJ Felton led the Pirates (15-15, 6-11) with 23 points and seven rebounds.
