The Freedom Caucus in the U.S. Congress was duped by a Russian intelligence disinformation operation. The campaign to impeach President Joe Biden, as well as tie him and his son Hunter Biden to a millions-of-dollars bribery scheme was blown up when star witness, Alexander Smirnov, admitted getting his information from Russian intelligence.

Smirnov confessed to bureau officers that Russian intelligence officers gave him the info. He said he was in contact with Russian officials. Smirnov claimed he met with Russian intelligence officials as recently as November and December.

Russians are masters at disinformation. As a former director of the CIA’s Deception Analysis Course, I know they are disinformation experts. Course content contained then-Soviet disinformation operations. The Kremlin knew what it was doing and nearly got away with undermining the U.S. election and returning the presidency to former President Donald Trump.

Russian President Vladimir Putin spotted and assessed his target well — using a 40-watt appliance bulb named Rep. Jim Jordan. Putin needed someone unethical, with no moral compass— Jordan fit the bill.

Ohio State University, and he has been accused of ignoring male students who said they complained to him about being sexually abused by Dr. Richard Strauss, a team physician.

Jordan never reported anything. According to an ABC News article, a former student said he “‘turned a blind eye’ to allegations of abuse.”

The Freedom Caucus feeds false Russian information to Americans. It supports Putin’s goal of destroying American democracy, castrating NATO and rebuilding the Soviet empire. The caucus should change its name to the “Freedom to Commit Treason Caucus.”
