MLS players group advocates vote

Black Players for Change, a group of about 170 Major League Soccer players, has teamed up with the LeBron James-led nonprofit More Than A Vote to encourage voting in the Nov. 3 election.

“The most important thing we can do as athletes in this moment to combat the systemic racism and persistent injustice that plagues our nation is to encourage all of our fans to join us by getting off of the sidelines and into the ballot box,” Portland forward Jeremy Ebobisse said.

Sunday in MLS, Jamiro Monteiro and Sergio Santos scored in a nine-minute span as the host Philadelph­ia Union (10-3-4) beat the Montreal Impact 2-1.

Vanderbilt's football game at Missouri, scheduled for Saturday, was postponed to Dec. 12, the Southeaste­rn Conference announced. The game was postponed due to COVID-19 issues at Vanderbilt, which has fallen below the threshold of 53 scholarshi­p student-athletes available to play.
