Virus issue won’t affect Michigan IN OTHER NEWS

A two-week stay home order for University of Michigan students will not prevent the school’s football team from traveling to Minnesota this weekend for its season opener.

Washtenaw County issued the directive to stem an uptick in COVID-19 cases among the student body.

“We are planning to continue practicing and plan to play our games as scheduled,” Michigan spokesman Dave Ablauf. “We are following the direction of our medical experts.”

So far, Michigan athletics has avoided a coronaviru­s outbreak. Since testing began in June, 104 positive results have been recorded among the 11,889 studentath­letes and staff members who have been examined. The most recent report of COVID-19 cases in Michigan athletics was released Friday.

Florida’s COVID-19 outbreak seems to be contained. The 10th-ranked Gators reported four new positives since the middle of last week, when they postponed two games because of the novel coronaviru­s.

Junior Stetson Bennett will remain the starting QB for Georgia despite throwing three INTs in the fourthrank­ed Bulldogs’ 41-24 loss to No. 2 Alabama on Saturday.
