Recalls ordered on candles sold at Dollar Tree, toy trucks at Walmart
Candles sold exclusively at Dollar Tree were recalled Wednesday, as well as a toy truck sold at Walmart, according to a news release from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Sure Scents 2-1 Peaceful Stream or Moonlit Waves candles were determined to be fire and burn hazards. About 142,740 of them were pulled, the release said.
The products were sold at Dollar Tree stores nationwide from July through September.
Made by ADCO Trading Inc. in the U.S., the candles are about 2½ inches tall, made of a powder-blue color wax encased in a glass votive.
No injuries have been reported, but the firm received two reports that flame height reached above the glass, causing the glass to break, the release said.
“The candles’ high flames can ignite the surface of the wax or cause the glass to break, posing fire and burn hazards,” the
release said.
The commission said customers should immediately stop using the candles and contact Dollar Tree at 800-876 -8697 or www.dollartree.com for a full refund.
Also announced was a recall on 5,150 Huffy Torex 24V ride-on toy UTVs sold at Walmart — model number 17249.
“The ride-on toy can unexpectedly move when connecting the battery after recharging, posing an injury hazard,” the commission said in its release.
While no injuries were reported, Huffy has received 36 reports of incidents, the release said.
The ride-on toys are black with red trim, and “Torex” labels are on the front and side.
The UTVs were sold at Walmart stores nationwide and online from August 2019 through September 2020 for about $500.
They were made in China and imported by Huffy.
Recalled items have date codes 16919, 17119, 18019, 19019, 20019, 20219, 20519, 24819, 24919, 25019, 25219, 25319, 25419, 32219, 32319 and 33719.
To check the model number and date codes, customers should look near the left rear wheel.
