Storylines: Hampton’s season will center around returning junior guard Laren VanArsdale and sophomore forward Nylah Young, a former King’s Fork star. Both were picked to the Big South preseason first team and were two of the team’s top three scorers last season. But defensive upgrades will determine how successful the Pirates will be after a dismal 323rd finish in rebounding in the country a season ago. Six addressed that with transfers Alexis Wooden (Mount St. Mary’s) and Nas Nigatu (Wagner) who will provide a post presence. Overall eight newcomers join the program with five returning lettermen.
