If you have a burning question for Dr. Anthony Fauci about COVID-19, this might be your rare opportunity.

The nation’s top infectious disease expert will join Gov. Ralph Northam at a virtual event for Virginians to discuss facts and myths about the coronavirus and vaccine this Friday.

The event will focus on how COVID-19 is disproportionately affecting Black and Hispanic communities and address misinformation about the virus. It’s co-sponsored by the governor’s office, the Virginia Department of Health, the Virginia Commonwealth University Massey Cancer Center and faith leaders.

Fauci has been the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984 and has become the most prominent member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force.

Northam, a pediatric neurologist, is the only sitting governor who is also a medical doctor.

The meeting is part of “Facts & Faith Fridays,” a weekly group led by Dr. Robert Winn, director of the VCU Massey Cancer Center. The events are held with African American clergy to address the disparate impact the pandemic has had on the Black community.

Since its inception in March, the series has evolved to include discussions of other health issues that hit diverse communities.

Event organizers say anyone can participate in the virtual meeting by registering online at bit. ly/fffdays.

Questions can be submitted in advance for Fauci to answer during the session, which starts at 2:45 p.m. Friday. He will not be on the panel answering live questions.

Virginia Health Commissioner Dr. Norm Oliver and Winn will be panelists. Sable Dyer, acting director of the Office of Health Equity for the state health department, will serve as the moderator.
