ARTHUR LEE RUSSNOW

-

Arthur L. Russnow was born in Yonkers, NY to Seymour and Margaret Russnow. On Sunday, January 10, 2021 he was reunited with his true love, Ann A. Russnow two weeks after her passing. Art and Ann met in college at the State University of New York at New Paltz and married June 28, 1969. Art served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968. They moved to Newport News, VA in 1975 for Art to be a part of his own environmental consulting firm, Russnow, Kane and Associates. Art was very respected in his field of hydrogeology and maintained a successful business from 1975 to 2012. They raised Matthew and Dierdre in Newport News and were a shining example of true love, loyalty, family and generosity. Art coached many of his kid’s baseball and basketball teams and was active in every activity of their lives. For years he was a member of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and sang in the choir and folk music group. He was a Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #5480 where he and his children spent many hours in the service of others. Art and Ann built a loving life and family and we could never say enough about their love, loyalty and generosity not only to family, but to friends and strangers a like. May they watch over us together for all eternity.

Art was preceded in death by his wife, Ann; his parents, Margaret and Seymour; his sister, Nancy and his grandson, Jacob Raines. He is survived by his brother, Richard Russnow (Pam); his son, Matthew Russnow (Laura); daughter, Dierdre Rubsamen (Ted); grandchildren: William Farmer (Denise), Alexis Earls, Joshua Raines(Erika), Jordan Anderson (Cory), Madalin Spencer (Ryan), Miranda Russnow and great-grandchildren: Lily, Kinslee, Isabella, Arthur Jase, and Lucille. A Memorial Mass will held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Virginia Living Museum where Art was a member for years and loved taking his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
