TOP 25 MEN

Valparaiso 74, No. 25 Drake 57

VALPARAISO, Ind. — Ben Krikke scored 15 points as Valparaiso handed Drake its first loss. The defeat by the Bulldogs (18-1, 9-1 Missouri Valley) left No. 1 Gonzaga and No. 2 Baylor as the only remaining Division I men’s teams still undefeated.

A day after Valparaiso (7-12, 4-6) squandered a double-digit lead in the second half and lost to Drake 80-77, the Crusaders pulled away for just their second victory over a top-25 opponent since beating Mississippi in the 1998 NCAA tournament.

No. 3 Villanova 84, Georgetown 74

VILLANOVA, Pa. — Jermaine Samuels scored a career-high 32 points, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl added 14 and Collin Gillespie had 12 for the Wildcats (12-2, 7-1 Big East). Jahvon Blair scored 18 points and Qudus Wahab 17 for the Hoyas (5-9, 3-6).

Indiana 67, No. 8 Iowa 65

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Armaan Franklin sank a 15-foot, tiebreaking jumper with 1.8 seconds left to cap a late rally by the Hoosiers (10-8, 5-6 Big Ten) against the Hawkeyes (13-6, 7-5). Franklin had scored just two points on 1-for-9 shooting until making the winner. Indiana’s Trayce Jackson-Davis scored 17 points, and Iowa’s Luka Garza and Joe Wieskamp each had 18.

WOMEN No. 1 Louisville 71, Notre Dame 65

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Dana Evans scored 27 points, including the game’s last five. The Cardinals (18-1, 11-1 ACC) won their second straight, and their lone senior was a major reason. The Player of the Year candidate scored 16 of her points in the first half to help Louisville take a 42-34 lead at the break, and with the Irish (8-8, 6-6) having closed to 66-65, she hit a 3-pointer with 57 seconds remaining and two free throws with 13 seconds left.

UNC 76, No. 4 N.C. State 69

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Freshman Alyssa Ustby had season-highs of 20 points and 12 rebounds to help North Carolina upset rival North Carolina State.

MANHATTAN, Kan. — NaLyssa Smith scored 17 points as Baylor (14-2, 9-1 Big 12) beat Kansas State (5-11, 0-9) for the 35th straight time.

A 3-pointer by Amber Ramirez tied it at 67 with less than 90 seconds to go. Both teams missed a shot on their next possession before Nixon drove into the lane for the basket to put the Aggies up for good. Ramirez missed a 3-point attempt after that.

No. 6 Stanford 83, Utah 41

STANFORD, Calif. — Cameron Brink’s 12 points and 10 rebounds helped the Cardinals (17-2, 14-2 Pac-12) breeze past the Utes (5-11, 4-11) in a game Stanford led 47-14 at halftime.

No. 5 UCLA 84, Washington 50

SEATTLE — Charisma Osborne’s 21 points and seven rebounds guided the Bruins (11-3, 9-3 Pac-12) past the Huskies (4-10, 1-10).

LATE SATURDAY Men

North Carolina 91, Duke 87

DURHAM, N.C. — Freshman Caleb Love scored a seasonhigh 25 points to help North Carolina win a rare meeting with both rivals unranked.

Junior Leaky Black hit two clinching free throws with 7.2 seconds left for the Tar Heels (12-6, 7-4 ACC), who ended a three-game losing streak against the Blue Devils (7-7, 5-5) despite blowing all of a 12-point secondhalf lead.

The longtime fierce rivals entered this matchup with both unranked for the first time since February 1960. Duke’s famously rowdy fans in Cameron Indoor Stadium were absent because of COVID protocols.

The Tar Heels shot 53% and hit 10 of 15 3-pointers after shooting just 30% from behind the arc entering the game, including four each from Love and fellow freshman Kerwin Walton.

Georgia Tech 82, Notre Dame 80

ATLANTA — Michael Devoe made back-to-back shots in the final 2:06 and scored 19 points to help Georgia Tech (9-6, 5-4 ACC) rally from a 17-point deficit against the Irish (7-10, 4-7). Devoe scored 14 points and made all five of his field-goal attempts in the second half.

No. 15 Creighton 71, Marquette 68
