Virginia Employment Commission hosting online, three-day job fair
If you’re looking for a job, the Virginia Employment Commission wants to hear from you.
The organization is hosting a three-day virtual job fair starting next Tuesday.
The “LIVE, LOVE & WORK IN VIRGINIA!” hiring event will have 410 employers hiring for 6,537 positions, according to Joyce Fogg, a spokeswoman for the employment commission.
“There will probably be more by the time the job fair occurs,” she wrote Wednesday morning.
The listings will be for blue collar and white collar jobs, including positions such as warehouse worker, dishwasher, scientist and psychologist. The only positions not requested, Fogg said, are for physicians.
Participating employers will include Advance Auto Parts, the Chesapeake Fire Department, the Chesapeake Police Department and Christopher Newport University.
The event will be split by region over three days, and some employers may have positions in all regions, Fogg wrote.
On Tuesday, employers from the Shenandoah Valley and Northern Virginia area will participate, including Fredericksburg, Prince William County, Alexandria, Fairfax, Arlington, Winchester, Harrisonburg and Charlottesville.
Next Wednesday will be reserved for employers in Lynchburg, Roanoke, Bristol, Wytheville and Martinsville.
Lastly, employers in Richmond, Williamsburg, Hampton, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Petersburg and surrounding areas will be available next Thursday.
Job-seekers can log on from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day, and everyone can register once for all three days, the commission said in a press release.
The commission suggests that job seekers post a resume or summary of experience before the event.
