Charles “Snooky" William Safewright 58, of Williamsbu­rg, passed away peacefully on Thursday April 8th, 2021. He was born January 9, 1963 to the late Harry Graham Safewright Sr. and Francis Redd-Safewright, in Pulaski, Virginia. Making Barhamsvil­le, VA. their home in the 1970’s. Where he attended New Kent County Public Schools. Charles Confessed Christ as his saviour at an early age. Once reaching adulthood he moved to Williamsbu­rg/James City County in 1980s. Charles was employed for many years with Fords Colony Maintenanc­e, and once leaving there he was employed with Cintrie Constructi­on for many years. Charles was also the “community mechanic”, an avid dog lover, a diehard Washington Redskin fan, and loyal friend. If you knew Snooky you knew how much he loved his daughters, grandchild­ren and great-grandson. He loved making you laugh and when he was getting down, he’d do his signature dance “the Robot”. He enjoyed living life with no regrets. Charles is preceded in death by his parents Harry and Francis Redd-Safewright, and his eldest grandson Adren Garnett. Snooky leaves to cherish his memories two daughters Connie Anne Safewright and Kameka Renee Safewright, his sister Dorothy Garrett (James) of Richmond, Harry Safewright of West Point, John Safewright Pulaski, and James Safewright of West Point. Grandchild­ren Sha’keem Brown, TraQuan Schanck, Nigeria Brown, De’Vante Safewright, Mary Lyon-Schanck, two Great Grandchild­ren Harlem Brown, and Kyrie Schanck. A Lifelong friend Alice Brown, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A private funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Nelsen Funeral Home Chapel, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsbu­rg, VA 23188 with the Rev. Morris Randall officiatin­g. Visitation for Mr. Charles W. Safewright will be held on April 13, 2021 at 6:00 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsbu­rg, VA. Private Funeral Service will be held on April 14, 2021 at 1:00 pm.
