Gayle Beverly Olin

Gayle Olin passed away on April 13, 2021 after a brief illness. Born on February 25, 1936 in Trenton, NJ to Herman and Julia Olin she eventually made her way to Virginia Beach where she lived for 40 years. Nearly 4 years ago she moved to Austin, TX to be close to her daughter and grandchildren.

She was born with a loving heart, always wanting to please others and make good in the world. Her passion was animal rescue, especially for cats and travel. For many years she assisted with cat adoption for the SPCA. She was always willing to sacrifice to make others feel better. There was never a person she met who did not become a friend; during her travels she met people with whom she would travel with on subsequent vacations. Gayle had a long career with the Virginia Beach School system in administration. She was proud of her job and made many friends in the school system.

Gayle loved and was so proud of her family. Everything she did was with them in mind. She is survived by her daughter Dayna (Dean) Chettouh, granddaughter Anissa (Alfredo Hernandez) Chettouh, grandson Terik Chettouh and many nieces and nephews who she loved very much. She is preceded in death by her parents Herman and Julia Olin, sister Janicelea Ackerman and the love of her life, Maxey Mayton. In her memory, donations can be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, SPCA or a charity of your choice.
