FC’s Payne reaches 50 goals
First Colonial’s Finley Payne powered another dominant performance with six goals as No. 2 First Colonial blanked Maury 13-0 on Tuesday in field hockey at the Regional Training Center in Virginia Beach.
Payne, with 50 goals this season, has been a major cog for the Patriots (13-1), who have outscored opponents 118-6 going into their regular-season finale Wednesday against Cape Henry.
First Colonial’s Emily Tammaro added three goals and five assists against Maury, and Dani Volpe, Landry Meyer, Katie Royle and Jolie Day also scored.
Cox earns ninth straight win
Daniel Hurley finished with 20 kills and six blocks as the No. 2 Falcons swept No. 9 Green Run in boys volleyball.
Chris Peters added 11 kills and eight digs and Collin Whitney had nine kills for Cox in the 25-18, 25-22, 25-21 victory.
The Falcons’ Kyle Schlaepfer finished with 44 assists and Logan Manning had 21 digs.
With just two matches left in the regular season, Cox (18-1) has lost just three sets all year.

Monique Lipton scored as Kempsville handed No. 10 Kellam a 1-0 loss to close out the field hockey regular season.
Kempsville (11-5) earned its first win over a team ranked in the 757Teamz Top 15 this season. The Chiefs started 1-4 before going on a nine-match winning streak, which was snapped in a 6-0 loss to No. 2 First Colonial.
No. 10 Saints earn comeback win
Marlin Price had 11 kills and 22 digs as 10th-ranked Nansemond-Suffolk clawed back from a two-setdeficittobeatNorfolkCollegiate in five sets in girls volleyball.
Kyra Bradford added 12 kills and three blocks, Alyssa Waddy and Milan Curl had eight kills apiece and Tracy Wang finished with 43 assists and three aces in the 20-25,
19-25, 25-13, 25-21, 15-10 win.
