Steven L. “Steve” Ward, 66, passed from this life on Saturday, November 27, 2021, after a heroic battle with COVID Pneumonia. Undoubtedl­y,

a family celebratio­n took place at that time, as he was reunited with his mother, grandparen­ts, aunts and uncles and other loving family and friends, who greeted him at Heaven's gate. Steve was born in New Orleans, LA. Son of an Army officer, Steve and his family moved to various countries and states, including his parents’ home state of Texas, before settling on the Peninsula in 1968. Steve was a 1973

graduate of Denbigh High School. He married his partner and best friend, Mary Farris in 1973. They were married for 47 years and made their home in Williamsbu­rg.

Steve was the founder and owner of Eastern Floor Covering for 44 years. He served as past President of the York County Chamber of Commerce. He was a fire fighter and rescue diver with the City of Newport News Fire Department for 8 years. He was a founding member of the rock band, Joshua in the late 60's and early 70's. Boss Hoss motorcycle and loved the fellowship of his Boss Hoss “family.” Steve loved and lived life to the fullest. Steve, Mary and their family genuinely enjoyed being together and they made forever memories wherever they traveled. He was extremely proud of his two children, Kristi and Daniel. Kristi continues to manage Eastern

Floor Covering and Daniel works as an FBI agent. Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Ward. He is survived by his wife, Mary; his daughter, Kristi Stalls and her husband, Dwight;

his son, Daniel Ward; his father, Claude Ward; grandchild­ren, Sierra, Colton and Cheyanne; his brother, Stan and his wife, Judy and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Liberty Live Church, 1021 Big Bethel Rd., Hampton, VA 23666. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Liberty Live Church. Arrangemen­ts by Weymouth Funeral Home.
