Sarina Massey Greenberg

Sarina Massey Greenberg, 78 of Alexandria, Va passed away peacefully on the morning of November 28, 2021. She was with her two daughters and her cousin, Karen Abitbol, at the time of passing.

Sarina was born in Richmond, Va to Ralph and Estelle Massey, and grew up in Chicago, Il. Always drawn to education, she was the first in her family to receive a bachelors degree in liberal arts and went on to get her masters degree in reading

education. She devoted her career to teaching, and empowering children with the ability to read. She taught for 42 years, many of which were spent at Hampton City schools in Hampton, Va. She also taught in Illinois, Georgia, and Kansas. Having a strong appreciation for learning, she was always eager to learn something new until

her last breath.

Sarina was a devoted wife to the late Dr. M. Taylor Greenberg for 42 years. She loved her family and friends more than anything. Through her remarkable talent for story telling, she had an amazing ability to keep the memories of the people she loved alive, especially her parents and husband. She was a supportive, loving mom and friend to

her two daughters.

Sarina had an enormous passion and enthusiasm for life in general. She was known for her love

of food, travel, literature, education, art, cinema and theater, comedy, and good company. Despite all of life’s obstacles, she always maintained a humble and generous spirit, and her unwavering sense of humor. She shared the gift of laughter wherever she could. And she never took one day for granted.

She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca and Elizabeth Greenberg of Alexandria, Va.

A small graveside service will be held at a later date at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, Va. Close friends and family will be contacted closer to that time.
