Vivian Cherry Rose, daughter of the late James Cherry and Chestener Cherry was born on December 27, 1957. She peacefully transitioned on Saturday, January, 21 2023.

Vivian received her primary and secondary education from Norfolk, Virginia Public Schools System. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High in 1976. In May of 1980 she graduated from Virginia State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She received her Masters Degree in Education from Virginia State University and was recently enrolled in the Master of Arts in Human Services Counseling Program at Liberty University. Vivian was the epitome of an epistemophiliac.

Her heart was always generous towards others, many affectionately called her 'Sister Peace'. Throughout her entire professional career, she was a teacher. In 2015 she retired from WJCC Schools as a pre-school teacher at Rawls Byrd Elementary School. On March 8, 1980 Vivian received a water baptism and thereafter received the gift of the Holy Ghost. Vivian was a wonderful witness for the Lord. Her faithful dedication led her to be supportive of her husband, Edward C. Rose in establishing and overseeing a church, Strait Gate Temple in Williamsburg, VA for over twenty-seven years. She did not allow her compassion and service to remain at church. Vivian received recognition for her service on the Region II Advisory Board of Norfolk Public Schools (1989), and through the Avalon Center loved working with women who had suffered from domestic violence abuse.

Vivian is preceded in death by her husband, Edward, her parents, James Cherry and Chestener Cherry, her brother and sister-in-law Lawrence Cherry (Shirley), and her brother Larry Cherry. She leaves to cherish many memories her two daughters: Lauren Rose and Arielle Rose Roberts (Derrick); a devoted sister-in-law, Jade Cherry, a host of in-laws, family and friends.

A homegoing celebration will take place at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 4th at Calvary Temple Church (110 N. Dunlop Street, Petersburg VA 23803).

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Avalon Center.
