Richmond too much for Fordham

Matt Grace, playing on his 24th birthday, had 21 points and five rebounds Sunday as Richmond beat Fordham 68-58 at Robins Center, ending the Rams’ fivegame winning streak.

Tyler Burton added 18 points and eight rebounds for the Spiders (12-12, 5-6 Atlantic 10), who overcame an 11-point second-half deficit. The Rams (18-5, 6-4) were led by Khalid Moore’s 12 points. Abdou Tsimbila added 10 points, six rebounds and three steals.

No. 3 Houston 81, Temple 65: Jarace Walker had 23 points for the Cougars (22-2, 10-1 American), who outscored Temple 48-28 in the second half in Philadelph­ia. Khalif Battle scored 24 for the Owls (14-10, 8-3).

Warren Wilson 79, Regent 72:

The Owls (5-15), from near Asheville, North Carolina, trailed 41-33 at halftime in Virginia Beach but bounced back. For the Royals (1-10), Stanley Adjei had 21 points and nine rebounds for a team that has lost nine games in a row.

Bryant & Stratton 69, Pitt Community College 67:

The Bobcats (20-4, 14-3 in NJCAA Region 10) earned a close home victory in Atlantic Shores’ gym to complete a two-game season sweep of the Bulldogs (13-10, 9-7) from Greenville, North Carolina.

Late Saturday No. 5 Arizona 84, Oregon State 52:

Azuolas Tubelis scored 19 points, Courtney Ramey added 11 and the Wildcats (21-3, 10-3 Pac-12) used a 19-2 first-half run to blow out the Beavers (9-15, 3-10) in Tucson.

No. 9 UCLA 76, Washington State 52:

Jaime Jaquez Jr. had 24 points and a career-high 15 rebounds as Pac-12-leading UCLA (19-4, 10-2) won its 21st consecutiv­e home game. The Cougars (10-15, 5-9) were led by TJ Bamba with 19 points.

No. 18 Saint Mary’s 78, No. 12 Gonzaga 70 (OT):

Aidan Mahaney scored 18 points and took the game over in crunch time in Moraga, California, giving the Gaels (21-4, 10-0) control of the West Coast Conference race over the Bulldogs (19-5, 8-2). Saint Mary’s won its 12th straight game. Gonzaga didn’t trail for the final 37 minutes of regulation. Drew Timme scored 23 points to lead the Bulldogs.

No. 16 Xavier 96, St. John’s 71: Jack Nunge scored 21 points, Colby Jones added 19 and the

Musketeers (19-5, 11-2 Big East) made a season-high 15 3-pointers in a win in Cincinnati.

No. 19 Florida Atlantic 67, Charlotte 52: Vladislav Goldin had 15 points as FAU (22-2, 12-1 Conference USA) earned a road victory over the 49ers (13-10, 4-8) two days after the Owls had their 20-game win streak snapped by UAB.

Lipscomb 69, Liberty 64: Darius McGhee broke the Flames’ all-time scoring record, but his team lost in Nashville, Tennessee. Liberty (19-6, 10-2) remained tied for first in the Atlantic Sun with Kennesaw State. McGhee scored 19 points, giving him 2,384 for his career. Previous record-holder Karl Hess, later a college basketball official, scored 2,373 from 1977-80.

Bucknell 73, Army 67: Xander Rice had 17 points and six assists for the host Bison (10-15, 3-9 Patriot League). The Black Knights (13-12, 7-5) were led by Ethan Roberts with 32 points.

Randolph-Macon 83, Bridgewate­r 67: Senior Josh Talbert, from Virginia Beach’s Kellam High, led all players with 21 points as the Yellow Jackets (21-1, 13-0), ranked second in Division III, posted an ODAC road victory over the Eagles (11-10, 6-6) to extend their win streak to 19 games.
