No. 3 Purdue blasts way past Buckeyes

Zach Edey had 26 points and 11 rebounds for his 21st double-double this season, leading No. 3 Purdue past Ohio State 82-55 Sunday in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Trey Kaufman-Renn scored 11 points and David Jenkins Jr. added nine points for the Boilermake­rs (24-4, 13-4 Big Ten). Mason Gillis contribute­d seven points and 10 rebounds for Purdue, which had a 44-21 rebounding edge.

Brice Sensabaugh led the Buckeyes (11-16, 3-13) with 20 points. Sean McNeil added 10 points for Ohio State, which lost its eighth consecutiv­e game.

No. 2 Houston 72, Memphis 64:

J’Wan Roberts had a careerhigh 20 points and 12 rebounds, and Marcus Sasser also scored 20 points as Houston won its seventh straight game.

Jamal Shead added 10 points for Houston (25-2, 13-1 American Athletic Conference). The Cougars shot 45% but struggled from deep, going 3 of 17 on 3-pointers.

Elijah McCadden had 20 points and six rebounds, DeAndre Williams added 18 points and Damaria Franklin scored 10 for Memphis (20-7, 10-4). The Tigers shot 44%, including 6 of 15 on 3-pointers.

Late Saturday REGION/STATE Apprentice 67, Pratt Institute 56:

Playing their regular-season finale, the Builders (18-7) defeated the Cannoneers in Brooklyn, New York. Shawn Eley had 15 points and eight rebounds, Adrion Wall had 13 points and Karree Smith scored 12 for Apprentice. Patrick O’Gorman scored 14 for Pratt.

Davidson-Davie Community College 84, Bryant & Stratton 71:

The Bobcats (21-6, 15-5 in NJCAA Region 10) fell in Atlantic Shores’ gym.

James Madison 74, Louisiana 68:

Vado Morse’s 24 points, including his 1,000th for JMU, helped the Dukes (20-9, 11-5 Sun Belt) beat the Ragin’ Cajuns (21-7, 11-5) in Harrisonbu­rg.

Liberty 79, Jacksonvil­le State 55: Darius McGhee scored 27 points as Liberty (22-7, 13-3) won in Alabama and pulled even for first place in the Atlantic Sun with Kennesaw State. With two games to go, Kennesaw State holds the head-to-head tiebreaker for the tournament’s top seed.

ACC Louisville 83, Clemson 73:

El Ellis scored 28 points as Louisville (4-23, 2-14) earned its second win in ACC play, beating the Tigers (19-8, 11-5). PJ Hall led Clemson with 28 points and eight rebounds.

Duke 77, Syracuse 55: Kyle Filipowski had 14 points and 12 rebounds and Jeremy Roach scored 17 points for the visiting Blue Devils (19-9, 10-6 ACC). Joe Girard scored 21 points with four 3-pointers for Syracuse (17-10, 10-6) before the largest crowd to see a college basketball game this season — 31,063, including recovering Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin.

TOP25 No. 4 UCLA 78, California 43:

Jaime Jaquez Jr. scored 20 points as UCLA (23-4, 14-2 Pac-12) improved to 15-0 at Pauley Pavilion and extended the nation’s longest home winning streak to 23 games. Cal (3-24, 2-14) was led by Kuany Kuany with 14 points.

No. 8 Arizona 78, Colorado 68: Oumar Ballo had 18 points and 16 rebounds, Cedric Henderson Jr. added 15 points and the Wildcats (24-4, 13-4 Pac-12) won in Tucson.

No. 13 Gonzaga 97, Pepperdine 88: Drew Timme scored 22 of his 34 points in the second half and Julian Strawther added 28 points in Malibu, California, to help Gonzaga extend its win streak over the Waves to 45 games.

No. 17 Saint Mary’s 71, Brigham Young 65: Logan Johnson scored 27 points and Aidan Mahaney delivered again in the second half for the host Gaels (24-5, 13-1 West Coast Conference).

No. 18 Creighton 77, St. John’s 67: Arthur Kaluma hit three straight 3-pointers down the stretch and Creighton overcame a second-half drought of six scoreless minutes to pull away in New York.

Creighton (18-9, 12-4) remained in a three-way tie for second place in the Big East after Providence and Xavier won earlier Saturday.
