Notre Dame dethrones NC State

The North Carolina State women’s Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament reign is finally over.

Sonia Citron had a seasonhigh 28 points Friday to help 10th-ranked Notre Dame, the top seed, beat three-time reigning champion N.C. State 66-60 in an Atlantic Coast Conference quarterfin­al at Greensboro Coliseum. Maddy Westbeld added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the top-seeded Fighting Irish.

Princess High alumna Aziaha James and Saniya Rivers each scored 14 points to lead the Wolfpack, which had won 10 straight ACC Tournament games since the start of its three-year run in 2020.

Louisville 74, Wake Forest 48:

Hailey Van Lith scored 17 of her 26 points in the first quarter for the fourth-seeded Cardinals (22-10).

SEC No. 1 South Carolina 93, Arkansas 66:

Victaria Saxton scored 19 points and Aliyah Boston had her 79th college double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds for the defending NCAA champion Gamecocks (30-0) in a quarterfin­al. They will face Mississipp­i today.

BIG TEN No. 2 Indiana 94, Michigan State 85:

Mackenzie Holmes scored 27 points and Sara Scalia added 20 as top-seeded Indiana overcame a slow start against the Wolverines in a Big Ten quarterfin­al in Minneapoli­s.

SUN BELT James Madison 62, Marshall 43:

The top-seeded Dukes (24-7) avenged the loss that closed their regular season last week, defeating the Thundering Herd (17-14) in a quarterfin­al at Pensacola Bay Center. JMU held Marshall to 32.7% shooting (17 of 52) and 19 points in the second half.

Late Thursday REGULAR SEASON William & Mary 70, Monmouth 60:

Riley Casey scored a careerhigh 33 points and added six assists to guide W&M in West Long Branch, New Jersey. Rebekah Frisby-Smith had 13 points and seven rebounds and Bre Bellamy added 12 points and nine rebounds for the Tribe (16-12, 11-6 Colonial Athletic Associatio­n).

Hofstra 72, Hampton 58: Sorelle Ineza scored 24 points for the Pride. Nylah Young netted 22 points for Hampton (10-17, 7-10 CAA), sinking 8 of 11 free throws. But her team shot just 29% and never made a 3-pointer.

PAC-1 2 TOURNAMENT Washington State 66, No. 3 Utah 58:

Bella Murekatete scored 19 points as Washington State upset top-seeded Utah in a Pac-12 quarterfin­al in Las Vegas.
