Albert Glenn Deas, 71, of Newport News Virginia, passed away on December 9, 2022, with his beloved wife of 30 years, Brenda Sue Deas by his side. Albert, or “Big Al” as he was affectionately referred to by his friends, was a contagiously happy and kind man. So much so that he often seemed much taller than his height of 6ft 5 inches. He was a life long resident of Newport News. Graduating from Warwick Highschool, he then went on to a career with the Department of Transportation at the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel, from which he retired after many years. Big Al’s greatest joys in life were found in his love of family and nature. Often in his free time he would take Brenda and their dog Angel out to pitch a tent beside a river to camp, fish, and cook in one of their secret camping spots.

Albert is preceded in death by his parents, David James Deas and Tiny Louise Deas. Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Brenda Sue Deas, and his treasured granddaughters Megan Danielle Melzer (Little Bird), Cassidy Grace Melzer, and Hailey Hanger Melzer. To his granddaughters: He loved you greatly and carried you all in his heart every day. He also always proudly carried your photos in his wallet and placed them by his bedside.

Though Albert Deas has gone on into the arms of his Lord and Savior, to be rewarded with life eternal, he will be greatly missed. He will be remembered always by those who love him, especially when they are spending time in the great outdoors. Services in the care of Altmeyer Funeral Homes – Riverside Chapel. Service information to be announced at a later date.
