Beverly Vaughan, beloved mother, grandmothe­r, and great-grandmothe­r, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2023, in Hampton, Virginia. She was born on January 22, 1944, to Betty (Sweatt) Hill and John C. Bowers Jr. She was a loving and selfless individual, known for her unwavering faith and dedication to serving God. She will be remembered for her kind and helping nature, as well as her commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her brother, John C. Bowers III (Kathryn); her daughter, Ann Vantichelt; her son, Ellwood J. Joyner III; her grandchild­ren, Bethany Joyner, Samantha Fields, and Tyler Joyner; many nieces and nephews; and four great-grandchild­ren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Vaughan, and her sister, Nancy (Bowers) Kullman.

She attended Churchland High School and was an active member of the West Hampton Baptist Church, where she found solace and community. She dedicated her time and energy to volunteeri­ng at area church food pantries and clothes closets and embodying her compassion­ate nature. A celebratio­n of Beverly's life will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons to be made to the West Hampton Baptist Church, as she held her church dear to her heart.

Beverly's presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who have known and loved her.
