SEVENTH RACE

-

BITOMAGIC makes his seventh career start but he may have finally found the right group, as this does appear to be the weakest $16,000 maiden claimers that he’s seen at the meet; he was off the board in his last but he was game until the late stages, with a race-long duel ruining his best chance. WITHJUSTASPLASH, the first starter out of the dam, makes his debut for trainer Gerald Bennett, who of course wins with most types here but who shows a flat-bet profit with debuting maiden claimers; sports a couple of nice works for this. SALTY KINDA DOG didn’t run badly in that first start, flashing speed and only tiring late after battling with another rival from the start; needs to avoid a duel this time around.

EIGHTH RACE

The dam of QUIET SEA, Whimsy, never tried turf herself but she was a stakes winner on dirt and she produced a grass winner in Whimsicality; works are decent and the barn does well with firsters on the green. TEMPLE ISLAND returns from the layoff as a gelding, and though he was off the board in his debut at Kentucky Downs those are some tough maiden races, and he earned a decent figure in the process; expecting him to move forward. The pedigree offers few clues but GONNAWINALOT moves to the grass after a decent debut try on the main track for a barn enjoying a solid meet; he was far up the track in that bow but that race came up faster than par.

NINTH RACE

ISLAND DUDE hasn’t gotten much pace help of late but that should change today, and he may be set up to make a late run here if the fractions are quick and contested; worth a shot against likely heavy favorite MINECRAFT, who benefited from the race flow in his latest, where he posted a slid figure; new barn has struggled with horses making their 2nd starts off the layoff, but the reality is this gelding would be no surprise. MEMORYS N DREAMS is another who has room to improve given a better race flow; back figures do fit and he has posted three of his four career wins over this track.

TENTH RACE

READY TO GO adds blinkers for her turf debut, and that equipment change has ben an effective angle for this underrated barn; this filly is kin to three winners, among them Biamonte, who has five career victories, all on the grass. INTERMISSION is out of a dam who posted her lone win on the grass and she hails from a barn which is exceptional with debut runners, especially on the turf; connections make her a top contender by default. HOT RECAP improved his position late after racing well back in the opening stages; she’d benefit if she were able to stay a little closer in the opening stages. 11225 Race Track Road, Tampa, FL 33626 (813) 855-4401
