BEST BET: RACE 3, IMPRESSIVE EDGE

FIRST RACE

SEUSS took up sharply into the first turn, did well to finish third in latest after beating same kind with big Fig in his previous start. Well drdawn on rail, taken to get back on winning track for top percentage “off the claim” trainer. STAR CONTENDER defeated preferred choice last time despite setting pressured pace, looks loose on lead again if hustled early in this spot. One to fear. ACKNOWLEDGE stuck in second gear at this time but will need some help up front if he’s to break back into win column today.

SECOND RACE

FLETCHER IS GOLDEN back to the main track after another poor showing on sod. Well spotted against bottom level conditioned claimers, need only repeat previous pair, this distance, to take another. HY DANDY getting significant class relief plunging to this level for first time, barn on a roll of late. One to beat. INTO THE FUTURE holding his form well at this time and like preferred choice nicely placed on the bottom for first try off his maiden win.

THIRD RACE

IMPRESSIVE EDGE, the day’s best, fell back off a relatively slow pace, raced in what may have been the deeper going on the rail when fourth in the Swale. Tries allowance company for first time, working well, looks too good for these in current form. ALEX AGAIN exits well graded race off the bench, appears to be facing softer today. Adds blinkers, expect major improvement with that last one under his belt. MAI TY ONE ON caught undefeated, Derby hopeful One Liner in local bow, faded late after contesting early issue. Looks loose on the lead here, just a question of whether he can carry that speed seven-eighths.

FOURTH RACE

MATTER OF FACTOR showed some early foot debuting at the MSW level now gets ample class relief, might prove quickest of this bunch if away running to outfoot YES DARLIN to the top. The latter comes off far and away his best yet when tagged for 3rd start, logical choice if avoiding potential speed duel from rail. I WANT MO second best behind well backed Pletcher first Coors Lute in his 3yo bow, must avoid getting hung out to dry from today’s post.

FIFTH RACE

TIZ BOBBY continues to hold his form well against bottom level open claimers, well posted on the rail for stretch to nine furlongs, a distance at which he ran career best Beyer earlier in career. FENERBAHCE rallied from off the pace to beat same kind last out but may actually be long gone in this spot. Just a matter of whether he can handle the added ground at another short price. SOCIAL STRANGER victim of a rough trip last time, could be ready for break through effort making third start of his current form cycle.

SIXTH RACE

GIFTED LADY and SALTY exit fairly well graded Nonna Bella dash on 2/4 although that race may have not been run as fast as official time suggests. Even so, both deserve top billing here off promising debuts behind the even money favorite, the former likely to be the best price of the pair and coming off a couple of good works since the outing. Salty finished best of all down center of course at first asking and in new hands following a private purchase since that race. Also training well for new barn, gets Lasix, logical choice. ASSERTIVE didn’t fetch as much as the sales as one might expect being kin to G1 winner Street Fancy but he has tossed some bullets in the a.m. for top J/T connections.

SEVENTH RACE

DREAMINGOFROSEALLA a $40K yearling buy who launches career against a pretty weak bunch for connections who will place one for early success. Has shown just enough in the a.m. to merit top billing. Tab board for further clues. MARY SUE WELOVEYOU drops to bottom, goes turf to dirt, logical in this spot but at what figures to be too short a price. PAST TALK another new face launching career in weak category. Poorly drawn for firster on the rail but must respect with these.

EIGHTH RACE

ABBREVIATE turned in solid effort despite racing greenly in debut when off slow, forced very wide into the stretch before falling just short with her final bid. Galloped out well after the race, need only move forward off that try to graduate. Stable mate SILVER DOLLAR DIVA may be best of a well bred group of new faces. Has shown promise in the a.m. and Castellano takes the call. LONG LEAF a half to G3 winner Onus and showing some promise in the a.m. over Payson turf. Bernadiva hung late, failing as 8-5 choice behind 27-1 Jim Bond firster Scheme in her 2yo finale, the runner-up from that race Ritzy Rose finishing 8th at 5/2 in next start. Might be vulnerable again at short price.

NINTH RACE

JUST FOOLIN AROUND puts blinkers on for the first time which should have him close to the pace as he was when narrowly missing against open $16K foes two back. Eligible to wake up with the equipment change at a bit of a price in this wide open spot. PRINCE VINCENZO continues to hold his form well, kinocking at the door with this kind. Re-claimed by current O/T pairing, missed less than a length despite losing considerably more ground than that last time. FAVORITE HEIR got bottled up badly in traffic at head of stretch behind Prince V. on 2/10 while making his first start in four months. Reunites with Castellano who guided him to easy maiden win over this course a year ago.

TENTH RACE

SHOT JAK had an eventful trip in his bow, checking briefly after break, steadying for nearly an eighth of a mile on the turn. Switches to dirt, dons shades for second start. Worked a bullet for this. Expecting major improvement today. MIKES MUSCLE MAN just missed vs. same kind three weeks earlier. Hard to leave out of the equation. REY ASTRAY back to the main track where he finished good third debuting at seven-eighths. Should be coming best at the emd.

ELEVENTH RACE

Lots of options in this one with trip likely to decide the outcome. LAYTHATPISTOLDOWN as good as any at his best and sporting very potent J/T combo off the claim. EMINENT FORCE beat these earlier in meet, comes off wide running second for open $35K tag last time. Another major player. ROYAL BLESSING has been hung wide in each of last pair at this level. Second best behind preferred choice in CD finale.

TWELFTH RACE

Taking a flyer with TALLER SISTER at a price on the class drop making third start of her current form cycle. Ran some races last year good enough to win in this spot. THINKING OF MOM and ON A STAR the two most logical ones in their present form, each having already posted 5 career wins including multiple victories at this distance.

THIRTEENTH RACE

Speedy CONTRACTOR JAK the likely favorite in finale after hitting wire in front vs. same bunch, earning career best Fig in his last. But he caught a flyer leaving gate and had a perfect trip that day so will try for the upset with a couple who did not fare as well in the same dash beginning with GRAPHITE STRIKE who steadied after start, came a mile wide before just falling short with bid on 1/21. Showed improved speed last time, would have been 2nd best only to take flying leap over tire tracks losing his momentum at mid-stretch. POLICY PORTFOLIO had a nightmare trip behind C J in their previous meeting, now in new hands for rematch. Should offer a ton of value if able to overcome tough post. CONTRACTOR JAK should be prominent.
