BEST BET: RACE 6, FORREST GRUMP

FIRST RACE

SUNWAVE may not have cared for the local sod or maybe this 7YO just prefers dirt now. Either way, he drops in class and finds easier. TROPICAL HEAT made a nice middle move last out and against these that might be enough to think a small move forward is more likely than not. Second time with the same jock won’t hurt matters either. ZOOKS is versatile. He might be better with a target but the fact that he just showed some speed might hint that he is coming around.

SECOND RACE

C U AT EAU CLAIRE is a stakes winner that comes in rested and ready. Works are perfect. This barn is excellent off a long layoff which this is almost. She can fire fresh and will be a better price than many of these. We have seen this barn use Ms. Beauregard before. CITIZEN KITTY is just a solid runner that goes for a solid barn. We really like those sharp works of late. DEAR LILLY is the one to beat off recent figs and form. She has yet to lose on this dirt in three starts. Today’s rail start is no help though.

THIRD RACE

LADIES MAN is feeling great and not even a trip to Los Al could slow her down. OR she just responds to Ms. Green. Enough pace to keep things honest up front for this in tune closer. Rail draw is no problem as long as said jock doesn’t panic and remembers that the stretch is her friend. LOBO BRAVO W F did win gate to wire only two back. We’re gonna say it: 5 furlongs is his homecourt advantage. MO ROCK can fire fresh as he won when last seen doing so. If five furlongs a tad far? It is nice to see the recent works while Garcia rode to wins 2 and 3 back.

FOURTH RACE

A wide open affair and therefore a good betting race. We had a tough time deciding between four runners. REAL WINDY gets the edge due to recent win and the fact that this gelding almost always runs great for Lopez. Just enough tactical speed to help with this outside post. PARLAY PONTI ran well last out. Was that a classic bounce two back? Race flow helps chances as there is some speed in this race. BOURBON STREET BOY is feeling great and is a new turf horse. If sprinter next door shows speed then you could have 3 or 4 of these that push the early pace to some extent. OR they could all sit back and the early splits slow. STRATTON is actually the best value. We are just not sure if he will like this sod or if he can fire fresh or if this barn can get true turf ability from him. But he sure is tempting at a decent price, right? BARB’S BOO is by a 10% debut turf sire. His dam went 4-0-0-1 for 11K on the green. Lone sib is 1-0-0-0 on the weeds.

FIFTH RACE

LORD CALEZAAR is a 7YO that goes third off the layoff and gets back to two turns. On top of that, Stevens gets a leg up. Best comes now. CS I IOWA is an 11YO that just keeps cashing checks. Race flow could be better but you have to respect and root for this old timer nonetheless. ARTAKSEZ is better of late. He is often double digits. Once again he catches a slow pace.

SIXTH RACE

FORREST GRUMP did win his debut versus special weights up in Canada as the chalk. He popped and stopped in second start versus stakes foes but something may have gone awry as we haven’t seen him since. No one is better than Greg Tracy with horses coming off a long layoff. He has a slew of these types running on Sunday and Monday. J/T combo is kinda good at 2 for 5 with an R.O.I. of only $32.48. As expected, works are perfect. This 3YO figures to have matured a ton since last seen in August! CALVERT STREET shipped in from SoCal and has run well in both local starts. His most recent 66 Beyer fits with these for sure. TON EIGHTY ran Beyers in the 60’s last year as a 2YO. Someone thought enough of him to try stakes foes even if it didn’t work out. We spy some sharp works.

SEVENTH RACE

MAKE MONEY HONEY won nicely on this sod only

three back. A nice try two back even if finishing 4th. In tight previously and that is all the excuse we needed to see. She will have to win with a new jock today as Ramgeet isn’t riding. NANA WENDY is versatile. We think that she sits back and kicks today. Good odds of late. BARN PARTY will try and be the speed of the speed. A nice confidence boost last out.

EIGHTH RACE

WINGS OF WISDOM is a Portland Meadows runner that ends up with Diodoro. We don’t see that very often. What if this gelding didn’t like a wet track or the fake dirt they have up in Oregon? Works are fine and we like how Diodoro doesn’t start this gelding at the bottom. First time gelding makes perfect sense. KICKENIT has some good figs and now drops in class. He should be tough. UNCLE ACKIE is by a 15% debut sire. His dam went 7-1-1-0 for 13K and this is her first foal. STORMY REALITY is by a 6% debut sire. His dam went 4-0-2-0 for 6K. Both sibs won with one beating winners.
