BEST BET: RACE 6, INTO THE MYSTIC FIRST RACE

FRESH PRINCESS broke a tad slowly in her opener en route to running second to the speedy Goldrush Glory, who’s in today’s Star Shoot Stakes. Off some solid drills, the daughter of Giant Gizmo should be dangerous with Lasix added. ROYAL KATY rode an outside bias last time when a fading sixth behind the future stakes winner Ellan Vannin. DYNA’S MISCHIEF, a daughter of the hot young sire Into Mischief, wintered in Florida and has worked quickly for her debut.

SECOND RACE

DR. HARKNESS struggled on the dirt in January, but what happens at Tampa, stays in Tampa. The veteran should be judged on his previous form on the Tapeta, which included a second behind the dropping Defondo in a $12.5K sprint. EXECUTIVE FIVE raced towards the inside over an outsidefavoring track when a prominent second in a key $8K contest Nov. 11. BET ON JACK possesses an excellent record in shorter sprints, and should be closing late with Da Silva aboard.

THIRD RACE

WOVEN LADY is the classiest mare in this $20K starter allowance, and it’s just a question of her readiness following a six-month break. The diminutive dark bay figures to shake loose on the lead, and might never look back under Hernandez. After wintering at Gulfstream, ALILACTION has a fitness edge on the opposition, but the turf specialist isn’t a big fan of the Tapeta. MODUS OPERANDI has fared okay when fresh, and could hit the ticket for a trainer who’s 0 for 6 second-time off the claim during the past three years.

FOURTH RACE

SWEET RHAPSODY faded to third in the final furlong after making the lead when she switched to the turf second-time out going a mile at Tampa. She’s eligible to run big on the turnback to a sprint, for a trainer who has impressive numbers pertaining to this situation. HOLY PLAN dueled through lively splits en route to finishing second at first asking vs. $10K maidens on the Polytrack at Turf- way. CITRUS STORM didn’t show much on dirt and turf at Gulfstream, but is worth a look because she has some speed and is dead fit.

FIFTH RACE

BAKERSFIELD came wide from mid-pack to lose a heartbreaker at first asking over Turfway’s Polytrack. The son of the popular Silent Name should be better for the experience, and he doesn’t have much to beat in this $12.5K dash. MISTY SPIRIT was a fringe player on dirt and turf at Gulfstream. He worked a quick five-eighths on the Tapeta the other day. ONE WAY TO FAME is debuting with blinkers, Lasix, and a speed pedigree. Use him underneath in exotics, along with TEIAIAGON.

SIXTH RACE

INTO THE MYSTIC exits a commendable second following a long layoff in a conditioned claimer on the dirt at Tampa, which should set him up nicely for this Tapeta tilt. He chased the likes of future stakes performer Pink Lloyd and Ethanol in his last local outing, and his connections enjoyed a productive Tampa meet. AWESOME FIVE was knocking on the door vs. $40K NW2 company in the fall. Da Silva will ride him for the first time here. BUDDING is stepping up off an overdue maiden victory at Gulfstream. Use him underneath in vertical wagers, along with WHO’S GOT IT.

SEVENTH RACE

JENNIFER LYNNETTE is just a nose away from being unbeaten while fresh. She placed in three stakes, including last year’s Star Shoot, and is obviously a snug fit in this first-level allowance. MISS FORESTER wintered in Ocala after ending up second in a longer N1X on closing day of the 2016

meet. Trainer Ralph Biamonte has impressive stats with similar comebackers. SWEET CRIMSON garnered black type when third in the Ruling Angel Stakes in October, after which she wintered in South Carolina. Toss DEEP BLUE SEA in the super.

EIGHTH RACE

SISTER NATION could graduate in style in this contentious 100-grander. The winter-raced closer has some speed to chase, and her best race was a charging second here on the Tapeta in the Glorious Song Stakes. RED LODGE is a wild card in her first synthetic track excursion. She’s shedding the blinkers off the bench, and her trainer did some serious damage on opening weekend cards here in the past. GILDED LILY is shortening up off a flat fourth in the G3 Bourbonette Oaks at Turfway, where she notched an N1X in February. R NAJA beat two future N1X winners in her gate-to-wire score in an N1X turf sprint at the Fair Grounds Feb. 10.

NINTH RACE

GORDIE MAC prevailed in a front-end battle before weakening to third in his improved second race Nov. 27. He drilled a bullet half-mile on a quick surface last Sunday, and seems poised to earn his diploma with Alan Garcia taking over. LOWI VENE got some betting support in his dismal debut on the dirt at Gulfstream, and certainly deserves a mulligan. EDIBERTO wintered in Florida before working a quick half here April 6. This will be his first start in the selling ranks, and Hernandez climbs aboard.

TENTH RACE

THIRTEEN DIAMONDS earned the best Beyer in this field when she closed strongly for second after missing the break Dec. 4. Her work tab appears to have her sufficiently cranked up for the task at hand. MY CANTATA toppled $12.5K maidens in a slow clocking earlier this month at Tampa, and could be a factor if she can handle the quick comeback. HAZEL MEADOW graduated under Da Silva after an ideal stalking trip Nov. 30. DANCE WITH ME BABY was beaten in double digits in each of her last three starts, but can fire while fresh as evidenced by her debut.
