BEST BET: RACE 6, PRIVATE TIME

FIRST RACE

Closing day at Keeneland on Friday...so a reminder of mandatory payoffs in any carryover wagers .... INTERNET SUCCESS is a double-advantage figure horse, with his last two Beyers (72,73) higher than anything his five rivals have posted over their last 10 starts; toss in high-percentage connections Chris Richard, Maggi Moss, and Corey Lanerie and this one is a likely winner first off the claim. LEROI’S THRILL looks like the speed of the race and is with respectable form, having been second in three straight races; logical runner-up selection. TOP GATO rallied to be third in a $10,000 claimer here Apr. 13, finishing behind TOP GATO. ‘THRILL is 0 for his last 11 but has a solid overall record on dirt of 3 for 16.

SECOND RACE

BUY LOW SELL HIGH is two for two this year after a fourth-place finish in his debut last year at Indiana Grand; Beyers tower over these and he has a cozy outside post from which she should effectively stalk speed-and-fader DRIP BREW. HIPPOLYTE has raced mostly on Polytrack in cheaper races this $30,000 claimer, performing well on a consistent basis; should transfer her form to the local dirt, based on a close second on this track in her debut at Keeneland last fall. CANDRASA is returned to a claimer after finishing fifth in a starter race at Tampa; managed some minor awards in $25,000 spots over the winter at Tampa.

THIRD RACE

SPECIAL JO has rattled off three in a row to improve his dirt record to 10 for 37; should win again if he maintains the sharp form he established at Oaklawn. SLEEPWALKER is another Oaklawn invader that merits respect; won a $7,500 N3L race last out in his first start for this barn, and now steps up in claiming price and into an open claimer. INCOMING moves up in claiming price after a couple fourths at Oaklawn following a N3L victory there; has back class as a former allowance horse at Remington last fall.

FOURTH RACE

SOARING NOW seems too classy for this group, having just run a close fourth for maiden $25,000 on the grass at Gulfstream - a race that followed a sixth and a fifth in a pair of straight maiden races; those were respectable efforts considering the challenging company. REWARD’S GIRL has improved in recent starts, hitting the board for the first time Apr. 1, though that race came on the Poly at Turfway; the bad news is all three of his dirt starts have resulted in rear-half finishes and Beyers of 40 or less. ICE FREEZE might be clear early, depending on what a couple first timers do in here; yet to try the dirt but did run a 46 Beyer when second last out at Turfway, though in a bottom-level maiden $7,500 claimer; now running for maiden $20,000.

FIFTH RACE

MERCY ANN debuted in a talented, fast straight maiden race Apr. 8 here at Keeneland, pressing the leader before fading to fourth after a slow start; forward move anticipated. AUNTIE’S THE ONE debuted with a third on dirt at Oaklawn and then was a close fifth on the grass here after chasing a fairly lively pace for a 1 1/8-mile turf race. JAUNT was freshened after going off form when 10th in her latest at Gulfstream Jan. 28; earlier efforts on grass were encouraging, particularly a race in November at Aqueduct when she crossed the wire first against eventual stakes winner Bellavais, only to get disqualified for inference. Also worth a look is first timer SOLILOQUY, who drilled a bullet from

the gate a Churchill for a barn that can be dangerous with horses unveiled on the turf.

SIXTH RACE

PRIVATE TIME, the day’s best, is returned to dirt, a surface on which he is 2 for 2, after fading to eighth against much better in a turf sprint at Fair Grounds Apr. 2; encouraged by the removal of blinkers and the fact that he was able to pass horses from a stalking position to win his debut; that’s key in a race overloaded with pace. BAJAN CASH likely goes favored off a pair of Beyers in the 70s and having an off-the-pace style in this speed-laden field; that noted, PRIVATE TIME did withstand his rally when they met at Fair Grounds Feb. 27. GOT IT has never raced for this cheap of a tag, but is one numerous horses in this lineup that doesn’t seem to keen to pass horses; has to deal with plenty of pace.

SEVENTH RACE

TISBURY rebounded from a poor effort in the slop in a race taken off the turf in February to win a maiden race at Gulfstream Mar. 15; first or second in 4 of 5 races on the grass, and perhaps has a fitness edge over some others in here that are returning from layoffs. Such types include FLOWER VALLEY, unraced since a close third in a fast race at Keeneland last October, and CORBY, who was a well beaten runner-up in each of his final two starts of the fall and has been out of action since.

EIGHTH RACE

ENDURING HONOR makes the third start of his current form cycle and is dropped in class from an optional claimer into a $30,000 N2L claimer; twice third over this track earlier in his career. His uncoupled stablemate, SILVERDOLLARDREAMS, heads the opposition, though he doesn’t seem as classy as the top one; goes first off the claim for connections that are known or their success with such types. FLEETWAY sped to the lead after a tardy beginning when racing in a $50,000 claimer Apr. 14 at Keeneland; now aggressively dropped in class by Maker and the Ramseys; would seem to have the pedigree to do as well on dirt as Poly and Turf, though his most-recent dirt figure was only a 59, admittedly the aforementioned difficult trip after the poor start.

NINTH RACE

ARLES has a history of seconds - seven from 12 starts - but her bridesmaid days should end here in the Bewitch, which didn’t draw much of a field by Keeneland standards in terms of depth and quality; this miss has faced far better mares in her three starts since being imported to the U.S., most notably Suffused on two occasions. EARRING is another that has often been the runner-up, finishing in that spot 5 times from 9 starts; is Grade 3 placed in the U.S. and Group 2-placed in Ireland; slightly disappointing when fourth in the Very One last out at Gulfstream. DARING DUCHESS is unraced this year but seems to have the speed to dictate the pace; could get brave and last for a piece if able to have things her own way.

TENTH RACE

MY MAN JAX was hammered in the betting first out at Fair Grounds after a flashy drill there, and ran well to be second on the lawn; now adds blinkers and comes off a couple quick works at Churchill. SILVER DEFENSE has respectable grass form, having been second, fourth, and third in three starts vs. straight maidens at Gulfstream. ICONIC is a quick-working first timer that acts like a turf colt with promise.
