BEST BET: RACE 9, FRESH PRINCESS

FIRST RACE

GWENDOLINE H won a similar event with a career high 70 Beyer in her final ‘16 excursion, in her first start with Lasix. Her new trainer scored with a sharp comebacker last weekend. FLASHY PATCH prevailed over $32K maidens following a five-month absence last April. She might not be as ready following this longer layoff, but could have a say in the outcome. BELLA FABIANA came from 10th to finish a lapped-on third behind the top pick Dec. 3.

SECOND RACE

FLIGHT TO VEGAS is a half-sister to four stakesplaced runners, and a full to a stakes-placed maiden, but her sire is just 1 for 15 with firsttimers. Her last two five-furlong drills were above average, and she could make some noise in this seemingly light maiden combo sprint. READY’S PRINCESS is dropping from open maiden special company to compete with a tag for the first time, in her first outing since a five-length loss going long Dec. 3. RING FOR A DRINK has a five-furlong tightener out of the way, which should set her up for the stretchout to six and a half.

THIRD RACE

Two-time Canadian champion older male ARE YOU KIDDING ME is coming off the sidelines in this allowance prep for the Eclipse, a G2 stakes which he won last year. He appears to be sufficiently cranked up after working quickly at Payson Park and Keeneland. UNBRIDLED JUAN has been idle since ending up second in a key Dec. 17 stakes on the inner track at Aqueduct. His lone Woodbine start was a third behind Field of Courage and Breaking Lucky in an N1X on the Polytrack in the spring of 2015. JOHNNY BEAR blossomed over the winter on the turf at Tampa, and figures to have a fitness edge on some of these.

FOURTH RACE

PENNY STAMP ran well for second going a distance (five furlongs) too short for her two weeks ago in her second start off the bench. The move out to seven-eighths should be to her benefit here with Moreno back in the saddle. MARSALA landed on the edges behind the top choice after racing wide over an inside-biased track when returning from a seven-month vacation April 15. STARSHIP GAMBLER found the mark following a layoff last spring. Use her underneath in exotics, along with POLY ANNA.

FIFTH RACE

PICASSO MOON ran hot and cold during the winter at the Fair Grounds. The nicely-bred daughter of Elusive Quality possesses a fitness advantage on this group, and is tagged for the first time for $40K. SOMEWHERE OUTTHERE came on belatedly for second as the chalk in her five-furlong comeback. CRUMLIN QUEEN competed in a series of restricted stakes at 2, the best of which was a charging second going long in the South Ocean. Six and a half is a little short for her, but she could garner some of the scraps.

SIXTH RACE

AFLEET CONNECTION has worked encouragingly of late for perennial leading trainer Mark Casse, including a sharp half-mile from the gate. The daughter of 12% debut Northern Afleet is a half-sister to three stakes-placed runners. FORESTELLA was a beaten favorite while hitting the board in all four of her outings. She looks like the one to catch with Da Silva back aboard. RELEASETHE GLACKEN is bred for speed. The daughter of champion sprinter Smoke Glacken is a half-sister to the hard-knocking sprinter Kitten Candy.
