SEVENTH RACE

-

AYE AYE CAPTAIN was surprisingly winless in eight starts last year. He’s worked nicely for his return from a winter layoff, and seven-eighths is probably his favorite distance, over which he ran second in the Deputy Minister Stakes. TIMINGISEVERYTHING seems outclassed, but the 4yo should be dead fit from his winter stint at Gulfstream, and could have a say in the outcome. BUTILOVESYABABE has prepped decently for his comeback, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him hit the ticket as a longshot with a hot Contreras riding. Use AULT in the tri and super.

EIGHTH RACE

OAKTON won an N1X sprint off a layoff in his first appearance at the ‘16 Woodbine meet, which followed a winter campaign in the U.S. He’s capable of duplicating the pattern in this seven-furlong optional claimer. Lermyte scored on one of his two mounts for the Casse barn last weekend. MAXSMIRACLEJOURNEY blossomed last fall, when he won two straight allowances before checking in second in the restricted Sir Barton Stakes. RIKER faded in a tough optional claimer on the dirt at Gulfstream March 16, when he was reacquainted with trainer Nick Gonzalez after a sabbatical. He had to have needed that race, and is being reunited with Campbell, who rode him throughout his championship 2yo season in 2015.

NINTH RACE

FRESH PRINCESS missed the break before running second in her Nov. 26 debut, and was stuck in traffic in the stretch before finishing a lapped-on third most recently April 16. She should welcome the stretchout from five to six and a half furlongs here with Da Silva taking over. REDWIN ROMP was an underachiever at 2. She’s worked well, as usual, for her return to action, and note that she spent the winter at Gulfstream. A PIC BY MRWILL made a wide bid into contention in mid-stretch before flattening out a little over an inside-favoring track in her comeback.

TENTH RACE

MY CANTATA raced five-wide over an insidefavoring track en route to finishing a close fourth in her local debut. She was previously victorious against maidens on the dirt at Tampa, and should be dangerous in her second Tapeta try, if she doesn’t have too wide a journey. BREWS TOONIE TOSS had a troubled trip in each of her last three starts in the fall, and could be the sleeper. RELIABLY ROYAL dueled through soft fractions before ending up second in her second try off the shelf April 21. She’s a must-use underneath in vertical wagers, along with BIG TIME NANNY.
