BEST BET: RACE 4, TRIPLE FLASH

- SCOTT EHLERS

FIRST RACE

GLAD YOUR BRASSY is a OP invader with decent tries only two and three back. She seems much better around two turns. Now as for her most recent .... sometimes the girls just throw in a clunker. New jock in Smith who is 2 for 5 for this barn. INTIMIDATORS GIRL has penchant for less at 19-0-4-6. She seems as good here as anywhere else and did lose a photo last summer on this dirt. You would think this mare would be a better price than what we have seen at Delta. AMAZING BELLA has some speed and does get a weight break. We have seen some OFF form speeds from elsewhere win at this meet and win EZ. GRAND BEAUTY is by a 0 for 4 debut sire. Her dam went 24-2-1-2 for 28K (15-2-1-2 when routing). Lone sib is 4-0-0-0.

SECOND RACE

Race flow is above average and that means a good trip for MISS SOOTAA PRIDE if able to relax early and stalk some. Local tab is fine and she has three local works. Delta tries are poor but that only helps today’s price. SOCIAL VOW might be quickest if Kay guns, guns, and then guns some more. She only has to beat six foes to find the winner’s circle. This mare did break her maiden on this dirt and off a layoff. SHA BA BA is in better form than a few of these. That might depress her price more than is warranted, right? Does she get first run on the speed? Or does Foster instruct Mora to be up close and personal?

THIRD RACE

ILLUSION OF REALITY won her turf debut and it was also her route debut. She did all that in her second start. Turf breeding is solid and she is now a multiple winner on the green. Off the pace style fits course profile early in the meet. First time this sod is the only X factor. RECKLESS GIRL might offer some value. She was 65-1 last out when breaking her maiden at the Fair Grounds. The funny thing is that her turf breeding is quite strong with that 354 grass Tomlinson. Now can she handle first time winners or put good races together? Around here first time winners scares us in the least but back to back good ones... insist on a good price. FINGER CANDY is capable on this sod. Now can she fire off the medium layoff? She lost a double photo when coming off a like layoff last summer. Weight break for those who like those.

FOURTH RACE

TRIPLE FLASH is one of two that has speed but this gelding draws inside and might be quickest nonetheless. Plus, the other speed has a return try and that might dull his speed enough for our top pick to clear off and secure that all important early breather. That mile try at Delta two back hints at route ability. Wire please. SHUSTER MEISTER drops in class and seems capable around two turns. If the umbrellas come out, then maybe the playing field tilts in his favor. He gets in light and can pass runners. MICHAEL FOREVER is a grinder with some upside. Recent tries were better and they came when this guy moved to two turns. A new jock for this. HUSTLE N JIVE is by a 6% debut sire. His dam went 5-1-0-0 for 16K. Of 4 sibs to race, 3 won.

FIFTH RACE

LOUISIANA WOMAN is by a 5 for 17 debut turf sire (outstanding). Her dam went 13-1-0-3 for 40K on the sod. Lone grass sib is 3-0-1-0 for 8K. This filly was off slow in her debut while facing tougher. Eramia gives it a go and that tells us volumes. This barn is 33% with their first turf runners. PRINCESS PREZ is by a 15% debut turf sire. Her dam went 5-0-0-1 for 6K and ran in Great Britain. Of 8 sibs to try the grass, 5 won with 4 having beat winners including a debut turf winner. This filly might show some speed in this spot. MISSBONQUIQUI has three starts on this grass that fit here. A great turf barn calls the shots with De Beauville. This mare will have to break in a new jockey and might have a penchant for less.

SIXTH RACE

HARBOR PILOT catches a race with 3 confirmed speedsters and another with some speed and that means a great trip. Nothing wrong with recent foes down in New Orleans. This gelding actually won his debut at Gulfstream and did so with ease. This gelding should take a ton of play and for good reason. We don’t pick the chalk very often but this guy looks that good and with a pace advantage to boot. Yet to try this dirt is the only knock. STEPPIN’ OUTONHER is another off the pace runner that would like to see a fast early pace. He ran well here last summer. Check out that recent bullet work. TIGERSTORM is part of the entry and the speed half. At least this 3YO draws outside the other

speeds. He does have some upside and connections thought enough of him to try stakes foes as recently as December. Working out a good trip is the tough part but maybe this guy is just that good. A bullet work for those who believe that this guy is still improving.

SEVENTH RACE

GREELEY’S DEALER has speed and comes in fresh but we think there is other speed and that a stalking trip would work better. Plus, he draws outside. Lone turf try was very promising and notice that he sat off the pace even though he drew the rail. A very good chance that he improves second time on the green. OVERRULING tried to wire a FG grass race two back and had the lead with a furlong to go only to tire some. He draws the rail and has some solid turf breeding. He might be the pace play. PANCHO’S LUCKY BOY ran better on the grass last out but it still wasn’t a Beyer top. That sure does look like a classic bounce two back. Turf breeding is solid.
