BEST BET: RACE 1, ITS A LADY’S WORLD

FIRST RACE

ITS A LADY’S WORLD was bumped at the start before going four-wide on the turn and then lacked a clear path in the lane in her comeback. Note that she finished a game second after breaking from the one-hole in her second start last fall. ANGELACREST has been idle since notching a key $8K maiden sprint July 20, but could join the fray. LUCKY EMERALD is turning back off a fading fourth traveling a mile and a sixteenth, a distance much farther than she wants to go.

SECOND RACE

MOONLIGHT MALICE is plunging from $40K company for his third race off the shelf, to where he belongs. A very slow start led to his downfall most recently, in a tough tilt won by the talented Nevaeh’s Valentine. HEY BIG MAN closed wide for second when he moved out to a route in his second start back May 17. TIZ PRIME TIME is a wild card following a long layoff in his first try for trainer Kevin Attard. Use SHOT FOR SHOT underneath in the gimmicks.

THIRD RACE

MOONLIGHT SKY came on belatedly for second when returning from a winter vacation in an N1X route on the Tapeta. The versatile 4yo filled out the exacta in each of her last five outings, but appears to have found a field that she can handle here on the lawn. TANCOOK had been idle for about10 months when she wound up second against easier as the chalk on the main track May 12. She beat $50K maidens on the turf here last summer. The win-shy veteran PRETTY TWO FACED is also changing surfaces. She could handle the rest with Ryan back aboard.

FOURTH RACE

GOLDEN EXCHANGE had worked nicely on the Tapeta heading into his debut on the grass May 20, when he flashed early foot before tiring. He worked quickly on the Tapeta the other day, and could make the grade in this maiden special on the main track. AMI’S EXCHANGE dueled for the lead before retreating when he was bet down to favoritism following a sharp first-out performance Nov. 20. The half-brother to stakes winner Ami’s Holiday appears to have some potential. ROCK N’ CANDY was claimed from his fast (77 Beyer) second-place finish at first asking vs. $25K maidens. SILENT JIMMIE is a logical prospect for the lower rungs of vertical wagers.

FIFTH RACE

CHEDINGTON is hard to gauge following a winter layoff, which began when she was claimed for $12.5K while taking a substantial drop in class Nov. 27. Her hot trainer has fared well with similar comebackers, and this one has worked extensively. QUEENSTOWN rallied inside from far back to topple $6.25K distaffers over an anti-speed track going seven-eighths May 17. A mile and a sixteenth is arguably her favorite distance. RINCE TAPAIGH is stretching out to a suitable distance off a seven-furlong tuneup.

SIXTH RACE

Following two straight seconds, SILKEN THOMAS took the overland route after getting away slowly en route to finishing fourth in his latest. The one-furlong stretchout to six and a half seems ideal for the son of Old Forester. NEVER WORN was disqualified from first for herding vs. $8K maidens just eight days ago. She’s already making her fifth start of the meet, and is eligible to regress a little. TRUE FORCE is by Bodemeister, the sire of Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming. The $150K yearling purchase is debuting for a pittance with blinkers.

SEVENTH RACE

GAMBLE’S CITIZEN checked in fourth last time in the slow-paced Wando Stakes, which was dominated by the major Queen’s Plate contenders King and His Court and Tiz a Slam. He should be more prominent in this N1X/optional claimer, which contains several Plate nominees, including BERGER. The latter was sold to Gary Barber after landing his debut going six furlongs on the dirt at Gulfstream. The BC-bred is bred to run on, top and bottom. ESCONDERA worked well with Tiz a Slam on May 22, and should improve on his sixth-place finish in the Wando. TOUGH EQUATION is also in with a chance, while seeking his third win in a row.

EIGHTH RACE

MISS ELLA ships in from Maryland off a second in a turf stakes at Belmont, from which the third-place finisher exited to run second in a $100K stakes at Pimlico. The versatile G2 winner has been working well on the Tapeta at Fair Hill, according to trainer Graham Motion, and is eligible to run a corker in her second start off the bench. MINKS APRISE is shedding the blinkers after a layoff in her first outing for the hot Roger Attfield barn. The closer just missed in the G2 Bessarabian here in November. JENNIFER LYNNETTE earned mediocre Beyer numbers in her two visually-impressive scores in N1X and N2X company this spring. She drew okay on the outside, and could press the pace en route to some black type. Use CHIC THRILL and RIVER MAID underneath in the exotics.

NINTH RACE

VEAISHA is unbeaten in three starts following a layoff, including in a six and a half-furlong N1X last August. The speedy chestnut has worked quickly for trainer Larry Attard, and looks ready to roll in this N2X/optional claimer. BELLA FIGURA rallied to beat maiden special and N1X foes this spring. She can pick up some of the pieces, at the very least. HIDDEN TO WIN has trained encouragingly for her first start since the fall of 2015, according to Mike DePaulo. Use her on the bottom of intra-race bets, along with CONQUEST CITY GIRL.

TENTH RACE

ROCKET PLAN placed in the Toronto Cup Stakes on the grass last summer, and is moving out to a mile with a sprint tightener under his belt. AYE AYE CAPTAIN ran hot and cold on the turf last year. He could be a factor with blinkers off and Da Silva back aboard. The consistent ARTHUR’S PASS placed in each of his last two turf attempts, and was a respectable third in his comeback on the Tapeta. THATLOOKONYERFACE deserves one more chance on the lawn.
